Hasil guna pemberian nutrisi suplemen (Royal Jelly) pada penderita Stroke Infark Akut

Stroke infark akut termasuk kedaruratan neurologis, mortalitas dan morbiditasnya cukup tinggi. Akibat stroke, status gizi seseorang bisa memburuk yang akhirnya akan menyebabkan outcome buruk saat keluar dari rumah sakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan outcome penderita stroke infark yang diberi nutrisi suplemen (royal jelly) dengan yang tidak pada saat fase akut (1 minggu). Penderita stroke infark akut yang baru pertama kali menderita, dengan onset kurang dari 72 jam, dimasukkan ke dalam penelitian. Data tentang status nutrisi dan prediktor klinis outcome lainnya dicatat. Penelitian dilakukan di Instalasi inap Bagian Ilmu Penyakit Saraf RS Dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta. Metoda penelitian yang dilakukan berupa Randomized controlled trial (RCT). Analisis statistik yang digunakan berupa unpaired t-test dan regresi berganda. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini 34 orang mendapat intervensi dan 34 orang mendapat plasebo. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mengurangi angka mortalitas, mempercepat pemulihan fungsional dan mempertahankan kualitas hidup penderita stroke. Apabila hasil penelitian dapat meningkatkan status nutrisi penderita stroke dan mendukung hipotesis, diharapkan agar pemberian nutrisi suplemen dapat dijadikan sebagai salah satu terapi standar dalam penanganan stroke pada fase akut.

Acute Infarct Stroke is one of neurological emergency, its mortality and morbidity is considerably high. In this disease, nutritional status might be declined, which had impact on its clinical outcome. The aim of this study is to compare the outcome of acute infarct stroke treated with food nutritional supplementation (royal jelly) and treated with placebo, in acute phase of stroke. Patients admitted to hospital with a recent ischaemic stroke, the onset of less than 72 hours, were enrolled in this study. Data on nutritional status and other clinical predictor of outcome were collected. This study was done in Neurology Department Ward DR. Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta. Methodological approach used was Randomized double blind controlled trial (RCT). Statistical analyses used were unpaired t-test and multiple regressions. Thirty-four patients received food nutritional supplementation (royal jelly), compared with thirty-four patients received placebo. The effect of supplement intervention in acute infarct stroke patients may reduce its mortality, faster their healing and maintain quality of life. If results of this study can support the nutritional status early after stroke and support the hypothesis, it was hoped that nutritional supplement intervention could be standardized as one of rationale treatment for acute stroke patients.
