Siak Sri Indrapura berdiri sejak abad ke-18 masehi terletak di Kabupaten Siak, Provinsi Riau. Kesultanan Siak Sri Indrapura bermula tahun 1723 dipimpin oleh Sultan Abdul Jalil Rakhmad Syah. Kediaman sultan Siak Sri Indrapura disebut dengan Istana Asserayah Hasyimiah merupakan pusat tata ruang kota. Berdirinya Kesultanan Siak maka, terbukalah jalur perdagangan dunia dengan melibatkan orang-orang dari bangsa lain yang berkesempatan untuk melakukan kerja sama dengan Kesultanan Siak Sri Indrapura. Salah satunya adalah orang-orang dari etnis Tionghoa.
Kedatangan orang-orang etnis Tionghoa ke Siak Sri Indrapura untuk berdagang dan bermukim di Siak Sri Indrapura di tahun 1900an. Pemukiman orang-orang etnis Tionghoa ini disebut dengan pemukiman Pecinan. Keberadaan Pecinan di Siak Sri Indrapura membentuk tata ruang dengan konsep Kosmologi serta didukung dengan adanya komponen pembentuk pemukiman Pecinan seperti: kelenteng Hock Siu Kiong, bangunan rumah toko (ruko), pasar, akses dan orientasi. Selain itu, terdapat faktor-faktor yang melatarbelakangi munculnya Pecinan di Siak Sri Indrapura. faktor-faktor tersebut yaitu: geografis, ekonomi, sosial-budaya, dan politik.

The existence of Chinatown in Siak Sri Indrapura forms a spatial layout with the concept of Cosmology and is supported by the components that form Chinatown settlements such as: Hock Siu Kiong temple, shop houses (ruko), market, access and orientation. Apart from that, there are factors behind the emergence of Chinatown in Siak Sri Indrapura. These factors are: geographical, economic, socio-cultural and political.
