Keragaman dan potensi penularan agen penyakit bersumber tikus di pasar tradisional

Tikus merupakan hewan pengerat yang paling dikaitkan dengan penyebaran penyakit. Tikus juga merupakan hewan omnivora yang sering tinggal pada tempat-tempat non higienis, dan merupakan habitat dari parasit pembawa pathogen. Tikus bermigrasi dari habitatnya ke dalam tempat tinggal atau disekitar tempat tinggal masyarakat. Tikus memiliki persebaran yang luas dan sulit untuk dikontrol, yang menyebabkan tikus memiliki potensi sebagai carrier agen yang mana melalui zoonosis dapat ditularkan pada manusia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis ektoparasit dan endoparasit sebagai agen patogen yang ditemukan pada tikus. Koleksi tikus dilakukan dengan penempatan jebakan (single trap) pada tempat-tempat dengan jejak tikus. Sampel ektoparasit diperoleh dengan penyisiran pada badan tikus. Berdasarkan ditemukannya ektoparasit pada tikus, jenis tikus yang berpotensi menularkan penyakit adalah R. Exulans, R.Tanezumi, R. Argentiventer dan R. Norvegicus.

Rats are rodents most closely connected to the spread of plague. Rats in general are omnivores that inhabits unsanitary places inhabited by pathogenic parasites that has the tendency to latch on the the rat’s body, effectively making rats the carrier to a multitude of pathogen carriers, these infected rats have the potential to go inside homes which heightens the risk of zoonosis occuring between rats and humans. Rat’s population spread extremely fast and are difficult to be controlled. This further boosts the potential of rats to act as pathogen carriers of which through zoonosis have the potential to be transmitted to humans. This research purpose is to identify and analyze the ectoparasites and endoparasites found within rat samples. Rat collection is done by placing traps on spots likely passed by rats. Ectoparasites samples are obtained by combing the rats. Based on found ectoparasites the species of rats most likely to spread diseases are R. Exulans, R.Tanezumi, R. Argentiventer and R. Norvegicus.
