Kompleks Pabrik Gula Poerwodadie Kabupaten Magetan, Jawa Timur: Kajian Pola Tata Ruang Skala Meso

    Pabrik Gula Poerwodadie merupakan salah satu pabrik gula yang masih beroperasi hingga sekarang. Pabrik ini dibangun pada tahun 1832 oleh Nederlands Hendel Maatschapij (NHM). Pabrik gula ini berlokasi di Desa Pelem, Kecamatan Karangrejo, Kabupaten Magetan, Karesidenan Madiun, Jawa Timur. Pabrik Gula Poerwodadie menjadi objek penelitian yang menarik karena belum pernah diteliti secara arkeologis dan layak diteliti karena masih tersedia tinggalan materialnya. Salah satu tinggalan materialnya berupa persebaran bangunan yang merekam sejarah perkembangan perkebunan tebu dan aktivitas industri gula. Persebaran bangunan tersebut memiliki pola tata ruang dan keterkaitan satu sama lain. Pola tata ruang tersebut dapat dikaji menggunakan pendekatan arkeologi keruangan tingkat skala meso. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola tata ruang Pabrik Gula Poerwodadie sehingga dapat menerangkan efektivitas produksi, status sosial, dan efisiensi gerak para pegawai. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pengumpulan data baik data primer maupun sekunder, pengolahan data, analisis, interpretasi, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola tata ruang kompleks Pabrik Gula Poerwodadie dikaji dengan analisis skala meso memiliki keterkaitan satu sama lain. Kompleks Pabrik Gula Poerwodadie terdiri dari kompleks bangunan inti dan perumahan pegawai. Kompleks bangunan inti memiliki pola tata ruang yang didasarkan pada aspek fungsional dan sistematis yang bertujuan untuk efektivitas dan efisiensi produksi. Sementara itu, kompleks prumahan pegawai memiliki pola tata ruang yang didasarkan pada aspek struktural sesuai dengan tingkat jabatan dan status sosial pegawai yang menghuni perumahan tersebut.

The Poerwodadie Sugar Factory is one of the sugar factories that is still operating today. The factory was built in 1832 by the Nederlands Hendel Maatschapij (NHM). This sugar factory is located in Pelem Village, Karangrejo District, Magetan Regency, Madiun Residency, East Java. The Poerwodadie Sugar Factory is an interesting object of research because it has never been studied archaeologically and is worthy of research because there are still material remains. One of the materials that remains is in the form of a distribution of buildings that record the history of the development of sugarcane plantations and sugar industry activities. The distribution of these buildings has spatial patterns and relationships with each other. The spatial pattern can be studied using a spatial archaeological approach at the meso scale. This research aims to find out the spatial pattern of the Poerwodadie Sugar Factory so that it can explain the effectiveness of production, social status, and the efficiency of the movement of employees. The research methods used are data collection, both primary and secondary data, data processing, analysis, interpretation, and conclusion. The results of the study show that the spatial pattern of the Poerwodadie Sugar Factory Complex is studied by meso scale analysis and is related to each other. The Poerwodadie Sugar Factory Complex consists of a complex of core buildings and employee housing. The core building complex has a spatial pattern that is based on functional and systematic aspects aimed at the effectiveness and efficiency of production. Meanwhile, employee housing complexes have a spatial pattern that is based on structural aspects by the level of position and social status of the employees who inhabit the housing.
