Pengaruh Penggunaan Ampas Penyulingan Daun Nilam (Pogostemon cablin) dan Daun Cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum) Sebagai Litter Terhadap Karakteristik Litter dan Performan Ayam Broiler

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemanfaatan ampas penyulingan minyak daun nilam dan cengkeh dan campuran keduanya sebagai bahan litter kandang terhadap performan ayam broiler. Sebanyak 150 ekor ayam broiler umur satu hari dipelihara pada lima lantai litter yaitu: sekam padi (SP), ampas penyulingan minyak nilam (AN), ampas penyulingan minyak cengkeh (AC), campuran AN dan AC 50:50 (ANC) dan campuran AN, AC dan SP 33:33:33 (SNC). Setiap perlakuan diulang 3 kali dengan menggunakan 10 ekor ayam. Pakan dan air minum diberikan secara adlibitum. Parameter yang diteliti meliputi konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan (PBB), konversi pakan, daya serap air dari bahan litter, suhu litter, pH litter dan jumlah belatung dalam litter (karakteristik litter). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan ampas penyulingan minyak daun nilam, cengkeh dan campuran keduanya sebagai bahan litter berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap konsumsi pakan (2754.5±63.4; 2552.6±168.6; 2797.6±79.2; 2751.4±73.0 dan 2725.3±95.4 g/ekor/35 hari), pertambahan bobot badan (1675.0±174.0; 1451.0±270.8; 1708.3±89.4; 1739.2±59.1 dan 1698.4±86.1 g/ekor/35 hari), konversi pakan (1.65±0.14; 1.78±0.22; 1.63±0.13; 1.58±0.08 dan 1.60±0.090, daya serap air dari bahan litter (31.0±1.9; 31.3±2.0; 31.5±2.1; 30.9±2.6 dan 31.5±2.3 l/kg), suhu litter (31.0±1.9; 31.3±2.0; 31.5±2.1; 30.9±2.6 dan 31.5±2.3, pH litter (8±0.0; 8±0.0; 7.6±0.2; 7.8±0.2 dan 7.8±0.2.oC), dan jumlah belatung (23.0±7.2; 24.6±5.6; 20.6±5.6; 27.3±3.0 dan 21.3±4.9 ekor/100g litter. Dari penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ampas peyulingan daun nilam, cengkeh dan campuranya dapat digunakan sebagai bahan litter tanpa mengganggu performan ayam broiler dan karakteristik litter. The Effect of Litter Material from By Product of Extraction Nilam Leave (Pogostemon cablin Benth) and Cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum) on Performance of Broiler and Litter Characteristics Alvin Dwika Aji Permana 09/289090/PT/05782 Abstract The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of litter material from by product of extraction Nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth) and Cengkeh leave (Syzygium aromaticum) on performance of broiler and litter characteristics. One hundred and fifty day old chicks of Loghmann broiler strain were used in the experiments. The birds were randomly divided into five flock litter treatments in three replication with 10 chickens each. The flock litter treatments were: 1. Rice hulls (SP), 2. By product of extraction Nilam leave (AN), 3. By product of extraction cengkeh leave (AC), 4. Mixture of AN and AC 50:50 (ANC) and Mixture AN, AC and SP 33:33:33 (SNC). Parameter collected were feed consumption, gain weight, feed conversion ratio, water absorption of litter material, temperature and pH of litter and total larvae pupa population in the litter. The results showed that litter material from by product of extraction Nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth) and Cengkeh leave (Syzygium aromaticum) had not significant differences on feed consumption (2754.5±63.4; 2552.6±168.6; 2797.6±79.2; 2751.4±73.0 and 2725.3±95.4 g/ekor/35days), gain weight (1675.0±174.0; 1451.0±270.8; 1708.3±89.4; 1739.2±59.1 and 1698.4±86.1 g/ekor/35days), feed conversion ratio(1.65±0.14; 1.78±0.22; 1.63±0.13; 1.58±0.08 and 1.60±0.090), water absorption of litter material (31.0±1.9; 31.3±2.0; 31.5±2.1; 30.9±2.6 and 31.5±2.3 l/kg), temperature (31.0±1.9; 31.3±2.0; 31.5±2.1; 30.9±2.6 and 31.5±2.3), and pH of litter (8±0.0; 8±0.0; 7.6±0.2; 7.8±0.2 and 7.8±0.2.oC), and total larvae pupa population in the litter (23.0±7.2; 24.6±5.6; 20.6±5.6; 27.3±3.0 and 21.3±4.9 ekor/100g litter). It can be concluded that the use of litter material from by product of extraction Nilam (Pogostemon cablin Benth) and Cengkeh leave (Syzygium aromaticum) resulted similar performance and litter characteristics.
