A peptic ulcer is an inflammation in the mucosal and submucosal layers of the stomach. At the same time, the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as acetosal can trigger peptic ulcers. Therefore, research on the treatment of peptic ulcers, besides using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, is necessary. Natural ingredients containing flavonoids such as bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) can be used as natural anti-inflammatories. The study was conducted using 9 Sprague-Dawley rats that had been fasted for 36 hours and induced with bitter melon fruit juice at 1% and 5% concentrations, then with 1000 mg/kg BW acetosal in CMC-Na. After 5 hours, euthanasia and necropsy were performed to obtain stomach organ samples. The stomach organs were fixed in 10% formalin and histopathological preparations were made. The histopathological preparations were analyzed using the Oneway Anova test and using 1% and 5% bitter melon juice protective percentage. The analysis results didn’t showed differences in each treatment group (p>0.05). The decreased inflammatory response percentage are Kelompok Asetosal (KK) 0%, Kelompok Jus Pare 1% (KP I) 2,75%, and Kelompok Jus Pare 5% (KP II) 40,47%. Although there was a trend towards a decrease in the number of inflammatory cells in the Kelompok Jus Pare 5% (KP II), statistical tests didn’t show a difference. It can be concluded that giving 1% and 5% bitter melon juice concentration can reduce inflammatory cells in the stomach.
