Studi Penambahan Air Buah Lontar (Borassus flabellifer) Pada Pengencer Semen Beku Terhadap Kualitas Spermatozoa Sapi Peranakan Ongole Post Thawing

Semen yang telah diencerkan (thawing) akan mengalami penurunan kualitas. Hal ini menjadi perhatian untuk mempertahankan kualitas semen post thawing. Sumber energi dan antioksidan dipercaya mampu untuk memperbaiki kualitas sperma. Buah lontar (Borassus flabellifer) yang mengandung karbohidrat dan antioksidan tinggi telah banyak diteliti potensinya sebagai bahan tambahan pengencer semen sapi Bali, babi, kambing, mencit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan konsentrasi terbaik pengencer skim kuning telur dan air buah lontar dalam mempertahankan motilitas, viabilitas dan abnormalitas sapi peranakan ongole. Metode yang digunakan adalah menambahkan air buah lontar pada pengencer kuning telur dengan berbagai konsentrasi. Perlakuan P0 sebagai kontrol hanya menggunakan pengencer skim kuning telur. Perlakuan P1, P2, dan P3 diberi penambahan air lontar masing-masing sebesar 6%, 15?n 20%. Parameter yang diamati adalah motilitas, viabilitas, dan abnormalitas dengan program Computer Assisted Sperm Analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan air buah lontar 20% (P3) merupakan konsentrasi terbaik dan memberikan pengaruh yang nyata (P<0>

Semen that has been diluted (thawed) will experience a decrease in quality. This is a concern to maintain the quality of cement post thawing. Sources of energy and antioxidants are believed to maintain sperm quality. Palmyra fruit (Borassus flabellifer), which contains high levels of carbohydrates and antioxidants, has been widely studied for its potential as an additional ingredient for diluting the semen of Bali cattle, pig, goat and rat. This study aims to find the best concentration ratio of egg yolk skim diluent and lontar water in maintaining motility, viability, and abnormality of peranakan ongole sperm. The method used was to devide four treatments of lontar water addition in egg yolk skim diluent. Formulation the diluent for treatments using lontar water with different concentrations. Treatment 0 (P0) as a control used only egg yolk skim diluent, and P1, P2, and P3 were given lontar water additions of 6%, 15% and 20% respectively. Parameters observed were motility progressive rate, viability, and abnormality with Computer Assisted Sperm Analysis program. The motility, viability and abnormality values ??in treatment P3 compared to P0 were respectively 60.96 ± 2.56% and 45.87 ± 1.62%; 74.50±3.15% and 58.25±2.51%; and 1.95 ± 0.83% and 4.75 ± 1.53%. Furthermore, the motility values ??of P3 60.96 ± 2.56% and P2 55.06 ± 3.43% were significantly higher than P1 46.97 ± 3.91% and P0 45.87 ± 1.62%. The viability value of P1 61.55 ± 2.38%, P2 68.90 ± 2.48% and P3 74.50 ± 3.15 was significantly higher than the control 58.25 ± 2.51%. The results of the abnormality test showed P2 2.50 ± 0.91% and P3 1.95 ± 0.83% lower than the control group 4.75 ± 1.53% and P1 4.00 ± 1.02%. Skim egg yolk diluent 20% palm water (P3) is the best concentration in maintaining motility, viability and abnormalities in peranakan ongole cattle.
