Dehumanisasi Pelaku Mutilasi dalam Respon Berita di Youtube

Berita pembunuhan merupakan salah satu berita yang sering mendapatkan perhatian publik karena pembunuhan memberikan dampak berupa hilangnya nyawa seseorang. Berita seperti ini cenderung mendapatkan respon keras terkait hukuman yang layak bagi pelaku, terutama jika pembunuhan juga mencakup hal keji lainnya seperti mutilasi yang tidak hanya menghilangkan nyawa tetapi juga merusak tubuh korban. Dalam beberapa penelitian, pelaku kejahatan dalam berita umumnya mengalami dehumanisasi, terlihat dari respon terhadap berita tersebut. Akan tetapi, masih terdapat celah-celah mengenai bagaimana bentuk dari dehumanisasi yang dialami pelaku kejahatan. Permasalahan seperti ini mungkin bisa dijelaskan jika dilakukan analisis dalam konteks berita itu sendiri. Sehingga penelitian saat ini mencoba memahami bagaimana bentuk dehumanisasi yang dialami pelaku kejahatan, khususnya pelaku kejahatan mutilasi, melalui respon masyarakat dalam ruang publik. Ruang publik yang dimaksud adalah ruang online berupa video berita kejahatan berat seperti pembunuhan yang tersedia secara publik di Youtube. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode analisis konten kualitatif pada video dan komentar dua berita mutilasi dalam Youtube. Penelitian ini menghasilkan temuan utama berupa munculnya demonization sebagai bentuk dari dehumanisasi yang dialami oleh pelaku mutilasi. Lebih lanjut lagi respon-respon dalam komentar juga ditelaah untuk melihat gambaran umum lain terkait respon-respon retributif yang juga mengikuti dehumanisasi pelaku, serta implikasi praktis terkait konten berita.

Murder news is one of the news that often gets public attention because murder has the impact of losing someone's life. News like this tends to get a strong response regarding appropriate punishment for the perpetrator, especially if the murder also includes other heinous things such as mutilation which not only takes life but also damages the victim's body. In several studies, perpetrators of crimes in the news generally experience dehumanization, as can be seen from the response to the news. However, there are still gaps regarding the form of dehumanization experienced by criminals. Problems like this might be explained if analysis is carried out in the context of the news itself. So the current research tries to understand the form of dehumanization experienced by criminals, especially perpetrators of mutilation crimes, through community responses in public spaces. The public space in question is an online space in the form of news videos of serious crimes such as murder which are publicly available on YouTube. This research was conducted using qualitative content analysis methods on videos and comments on two mutilation news stories on YouTube. This research produced the main finding in the form of the emergence of demonization as a form of dehumanization experienced by mutilation perpetrators. Furthermore, the responses in the comments were also examined to see other general pictures related to retributive responses which also follow the dehumanization of the perpetrator, as well as practical implications related to news content.
