Evaluasi regimen dosis antibiotik pada pasien anak di instalasi rawat inap RSUD Kabupaten Temanggung

Infection is a health problem due to the high global death rate. In 2019, the death rate caused by infection reached 7.7 million. The infection not only affect adult but also children. A therapy to prevent and treat infection is antibiotics. However, inappropriate and excessive use of antibiotics can lead to resistance. This study aims to understand the overview of antibiotic usage and the appropriateness of antibiotic doses in pediatric inpatient at Regional Hospital of Temanggung Regency.
This research is a descriptive observational study with retrospective data collection. The data collected are secondary data from medical records that meets the inclusion criteria. Data analysis is performed by calculating the percentage for each group. The percentages are calculated by dividing the frequency of each group by the total sample and multiplying by 100%.
Research results of the study that the antibiotics used include ampicillin, amoxicillin, cefixime, cefotaxime, ceftriaxone, gentamicin, and metronidazole, with cefotaxime being the most commonly used. The correspondence of antibiotic types with indications reached 82.5% for empirical therapy, 69.0% for continued therapy, and 69.6% for take-home antibiotics. Additionally, the research results of the study show that 69.9% of doses for empirical therapy, 69.0% of doses for continued therapy, and 66.7% of doses for take-home antibiotics were appropriate. Furthermore, the suitability of antibiotic intervals reached 83.5% for empirical therapy, 88.1% for continued therapy, and 97.1% for take-home antibiotics. Meanwhile, the suitability of antibiotic therapy duration reached 91.9%.
