One of the physical indicators in determining water quality is Total Suspended Solid (TSS). TSS levels in waters affect the optical properties of water, high levels of TSS in water bodies have a further impact on aquatic life due to limited sunlight ingress. Remote Sensing is one of the effective methods to assess TSS by utilising satellite image recording data. The purpose of this study is to determine the comparison of the Normalised Suspended Material Index (NSMI) equation and the Syarif Budhiman algorithm, to determine the temporal pattern and trend of TSS in the 2021-2022 observation year. The research location is at Gajah Mungkur Reservoir, using Landsat 7, 8 and 9 image data, field water sample data and rainfall data. Linear regression analysis and standard error accuracy test were used to get a comparison of the two equations. The results showed that Syarif Budhiman's algorithm was better used in the research location. Analysis of the coefficient of determination shows that the NSMI equation is able to influence the presence of TSS in the field by 25.1% while the Syarif Budhiman algorithm is greater at 34.0%. The accuracy test results using the standard error on the NSMI equation is 22.28 mg/L and on the Syarif Budhiman algorithm is 21.88 mg/L. The TSS pattern in the 2012-2022 observation year shows similarities, high TSS in the northern, eastern and southern reservoir areas. Trend observation was carried out by determining 20 observation points using the MannKendall and Theil Sen's Slope tests, the results showed that there was a decrease in trend at two observation points, namely -9.19 at point 12 and -2.01 at point 17. The decrease in trend indicates that at the observation point there is a decrease in TSS content during the observation time.
