FFeeding Behavior of Diaphorina citri in Citrus Seedlings with Bacillus cereus and Bacillus velezensis application as Monitored by Electrical Penetration Graph (DC-EPG)

Diaphorina citri menjadi salah satu kendala dalam budidaya jeruk
sebagai serangga vektor yang dapat menularkan bakteri patogen Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus (Las) yang menyebabkan penyakit huanglongbing (HLB).
Pemanfaatan mikroorganisme menjadi
salah satu alternatif yang baik dan efisien untuk pengendalian hama terpadu. Strategi
potensial untuk pengendalian hayati penyakit tanaman dengan pemanfaatan Plant
Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) seperti Bacillus
cereus dan Bacillus
velezensis. PGPR
dapat digunakan untuk mengaktifkan
perubahan molekuler dan fisiologis pada
tanaman,
serta meningkatkan pertahanan tanaman terhadap patogen dan serangga hama melalui Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR).
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aplikasi B. cereus dan B. velezensis terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman dan perilaku makan D. citri. Tinggi, volume kanopi, jumlah tunas, dan diameter batang
tanaman jeruk
diamati secara periodik selama 6 bulan, sedangkan perilaku makan D. citri
diamati menggunakan Electrical
Penetration Graph (EPG). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan
tinggi, volume
kanopi, dan jumlah tunas
tanaman jeruk terlihat pada tanaman jeruk
yang
diperlakukan dengan B. cereus RC76 mengindikasikan
bahwa B. cereus RC76 mampu berperan sebagai PGPR. Aplikasi B. cereus RC76 dan B. velezensis B-27 pada bibit jeruk berpengaruh terhadap perilaku
makan D. citri yang mengalami
kesulitan dalam menembus
jaringan floem tanaman jeruk.
Diaphorina
citri is one of the obstacles in citrus cultivation as a vector
insect that can transmit the pathogenic bacteria Candidatus Liberibacter
asiaticus (Las) which causes huanglongbing disease (HLB). The use of
microorganisms is a good and efficient alternative for integrated pest control.
A potential strategy for biological control of plant diseases is by utilizing
Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) such as Bacillus cereus and Bacillus
velezensis. PGPR can be used to activate molecular and physiological changes
in plants, as well as increase plant defense against pathogens and insect pests
through Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR). This research aims to determine the
effect of application of B. cereus and B. velezensis on plant
growth and feeding behavior of D. citri. The height, canopy volume,
number of shoots and stem diameter of citrus plants were observed periodically
for 6 months, while the feeding behavior of D. citri was observed using
the Electrical Penetration Graph (EPG). The results showed that an increase in
the height, canopy volume and number of shoots of citrus plants was seen in
citrus plants treated with B. cereus RC76, indicating that B. cereus
RC76 was able to act as a PGPR. The application of B. cereus RC76 and B.
velezensis B-27 to citrus plants affects the feeding behavior of D.
citri which has difficulty penetrating the phloem tissue of citrus plants.
