Kerentanan Pekerja Startup dalam Sistem Kapitalisme Digital

Dalam sepanjang sejarah revolusi industri, krisis ekonomi berkali-kali terjadi dan kapitalisme selalu dirumuskan berulang kali untuk mengatasi krisis yang terjadi. Kini masyarakat telah sampai pada era kapitalisme digital di mana teknologi digital dimanfaatkan untuk kepentingan ekonomi. Startup merupakan bentuk kewirausahaan baru yang populer pada era kapitalisme digital ini. Startup mengalami transformasi digital dalam berbagai sisi terutama pada sistem kerjanya yang fleksibel, tidak terbatas pada ruang dan waktu. Namun, ternyata sistem kerja dalam startup ini tidak hanya membawa keuntungan tapi juga menciptakan kerentanan baru bagi para pekerja startup. Lagi-lagi kapitalisme hadir dengan ironi. Teknologi digital yang seharusnya membawa kemudahan justru malah menjajah tubuh pekerja. Kapitalisme digital menciptakan bentuk kerentanan baru pada pekerja. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kerentanan pekerja startup dalam paradoks ruang dan waktu dengan konsep dromologi yang digagas oleh Virilio. Bagi Virilio kecepatan dan percepatan yang terjadi saat ini berimplikasi pada kecelakaan. Kecelakaan itu turut dialami oleh pekerja startup dalam sistem kapitalisme digital yang mereka jalani. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan kacamata Zuboff yaitu surveillance capitalism untuk melihat bagaimana pengawasan yang dialami oleh pekerja startup. Metode kualitatif dan teknik analisis naratif-deskriptif dipilih untuk menggali cerita dan pengalaman pekerja startup mengenai sistem kerja yang mereka jalani. Informan dalam penelitian ini merupakan pekerja startup dari empat perusahaan yang berbeda. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pekerja startup mengalami kerentanan akibat dari paradoks waktu dan pengawasan dalam sistem kerja yang diterapkan startup. Melalui temuan tersebut disimpulkan bahwa meski startup telah menciptakan inovasi baru dalam dunia kewirausahaan, inovasi tersebut juga turut menciptakan kecelakaan berupa kerentanan bagi para pekerjanya.

Throughout the history of the industrial revolution, economic crises have occurred many times and capitalism has always been formulated repeatedly to overcome the crises that occur. Now society has arrived at the era of digital capitalism where digital technology is utilized for economic purposes. Startups are a popular new form of entrepreneurship in this era of digital capitalism. Startups have undergone digital transformation in various aspects, especially in their flexible work system, which is not limited to time and space. However, it turns out that this working system in startups not only brings benefits but also creates new vulnerabilities for startup workers. Again, capitalism comes with irony. Digital technology that is supposed to bring convenience instead colonizes the bodies of workers. Digital capitalism creates new forms of vulnerability in workers. Based on this background, this research aims to analyze the vulnerability of startup workers in the paradox of space and time with the concept of dromology initiated by Virilio. For Virilio, the speed and acceleration that occur today have implications for accidents. The accident is also experienced by startup workers in the digital capitalism system they live in. This research also uses Zuboff's perspective on surveillance capitalism to see how surveillance is experienced by startup workers. Qualitative methods and narrative-descriptive analysis techniques were chosen to explore the stories and experiences of startup workers regarding the work system they live in. The informants in this study are startup workers from four different companies. The findings of this study show that startup workers experience vulnerability due to the paradox of time and supervision in the work system implemented by startups. Through these findings, it is concluded that although startups have created new innovations in the world of entrepreneurship, these innovations have also created accidents in the form of vulnerability for their workers.
