Sistem pemantauan tesis dilingkungan MTI UGM pada saat ini masih bersifat manual, dimana proses kemajuan dari mahasiswa yang mengambil tesis hanya bisa dilihat pada waktu seminar saja sehingga pihak pengelola dan dosen tidak dapat memantau sepanjang waktu perkembangan tesis mahasiswa. Berdasarkan hal diatas maka perlu dibuat suatu perangkat lunak yang dapat memantau perkembangan tesis mahasiswa sepanjang waktu sehingga mahasiswa dalam lulus tepat waktu. Sistem Informasi Pemantau Kemajuan Tesis Berbasis Web di MTI UGM dirancang dengan bahasa pemrograman HTML dan PHP, serta menggunakan MySQL sebagai database. Sistem ini bersifat online sehingga dosen dapat memantau mahasiswa bimbingan dari mana saja dan kapan saja. selain itu, sistem informasi ini memiliki fasilitas e-mail, sehingga dosen dan mahasiswa dapat terus berkomunikasi dan tentu saja pembimbingan tesis menjadi lebih efektif. Sistem ini belum diuji secara masal, oleh karena itu adalah penting untuk melakukan uji coba dan memberikan kuisioner kepada pemakai demi tercapainya sistem yang optimal.

The thesis monitoring system in the MTI GMU at this time is still done manually, in which the progress of thesis done by students can be seen only from seminar so that the principal and lecturer cannot watch the progress of students’ thesis any time. Based on that reason it is important to make software that able to monitor the progress of students’ thesis all the time thus hopefully students can be graduated on time. The information system of thesis progress monitoring based on web in MTI GMU is created by using HTML and PHP as a language program and MySQL as a data base. This system uses online system thus the lecturers can monitor the progress of their students’ thesis any time any where, beside that this system has an e-mail that allow students and lecturer to have communication any time and of course it can make thesis supervisory process become more effective. This system has not been tested yet to the public, therefore it is important to do a test and give a questioner to the user in order to get an optimal system.
