DAWET IRENG JEMBATAN BUTUH SEBAGAI IKON WISATA KULINER KABUPATEN PURWOREJO, JAWA TENGAH

Dawet ireng adalah makanan yang berasal dari Kabupaten Purworejo. Sebagai bagian dari daerah Purworejo, yang tumbuh dan berkembang di Kecamatan Butuh, maka keberadaan dawet ireng perlu diberikan perhatian lebih. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana sejarah kemunculan dawet ireng dan bagaimana dawet ireng menjadi ikon serta daya tarik wisata kuliner Kota Purworejo. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep definisi wisata kuliner untuk mengetahui sejarah dan budaya dawet ireng. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melakukan wawancara terhadap narasumber: kepala bidang pengembangan destinasi pariwisata dan kepala bidang pemasaran pariwisata, sumber daya pariwisata, dan ekonomi kreatif dari Dinas Pariwisata Kabupaten Purworejo; Kepala Bidang Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pendidikan Kabupaten Purworejo; Kepala Bidang Dinas Koperasi, Usaha Kecil, Menengah, dan Perdagangan Kabupaten Purworejo; ketua forum dan pendamping forum UMKM Kecamatan Butuh; dan dari pihak perangkat Desa Butuh; serta penjual atau pemilik usaha dawet ireng di Purworejo. Selain wawancara, observasi dan studi pustaka dipilih untuk mendapatkan data penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptifhistoris untuk menjelaskan hasil penelitian secara kronologis. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa dawet ireng pertama kali muncul tahun 1960 digagas oleh Pak Ahmad Dasri. Perkembangan dawet ireng yang pesat ditandai dengan munculnya berbagai lapak dawet ireng yang tersebar di seluruh Kabupaten Purworejo. Diusulkanlah dawet ireng sebagai kekayaan intelektual komunal Kabupaten Purworejo tanggal 14 Oktober 2021 sekaligus sebagai ikon kuliner. Karakteristik warna dawet, bahan baku dari tepung sagu dan oman, serta perbandingan jumlah dawet yang lebih banyak daripada santannya, ditambah dawet ireng yang lahir, tumbuh, dan berkembang di Purworejo menjadikannya dipilih sebagai ikon dan daya tarik wisata kuliner Purworejo.

Dawet ireng is a traditional food from the Butuh regency in Purworejo, Indonesia. As part of the Purworejo region, which has grown and developed in the Butuh sub-district, the existence of dawet ireng needs to be given more attention. The purpose of this research is to determine the history of the emergence of dawet ireng and how it has become an icon and culinary attraction of Purworejo city. This research uses the concept of culinary tourism to understand the history and culture of dawet ireng. Data will be collected through interviews with various sources, including the head of the Tourism Destination Development and Marketing, Tourism Resources and Creative Economy Department of the Purworejo District Tourism Office; the head of the Culture and Education Department of the Purworejo Regency; the head of the Cooperatives, Small, Medium Enterprises, and Trade Department of the Purworejo Regency; the chairman and accompanying forum of UMKM in Butuh sub-district, and from the Butuh village apparatus; and vendors or owners of dawet ireng businesses in Purworejo. In addition to interviews, observations, and literature reviews were used to collect research data. This research uses a descriptive-historical method to explain the research findings chronologically. The research results obtained show that dawet ireng first appeared in 1960, initiated by Mr. Ahmad Dasri. The rapid development of dawet ireng is marked by the emergence of various dawet ireng stalls scattered throughout Purworejo Regency. Dawet ireng is proposed to be a communal intellectual property of Purworejo Regency on 14 October 2021, as well as a culinary icon. The characteristics of the color of dawet, the main ingredients of sago flour and oman, and the higher proportion of dawet compared to its coconut milk, together with the birth, growth, and development of dawet ireng in Purworejo, make it a chosen icon and culinary attraction of Purworejo.
