Fused deposition modelling (FDM)
dibandingkan spesimen tanpa pengelasan. Sedangkan kekuatan tarik terendah
berada pada kecepatan 600 RPM dengaan rata-tara 11,106 MPA. Perbedaan kekuatan
Fused deposition
modeling (FDM) is one of the additive manufacturing (AM) technologies that has
been widely used in the production of prototypes and the fabrication of
physical models. It can print various types of materials, including composites,
ceramics, metals, and polymers. Polylactic Acid (PLA) is one of the popular
polymers used for FDM due to its advantageous characteristics such as
biodegradability, biocompatibility, and good printing capability. The main
limitation of FDM is the restricted print dimensions, which means the printer
cannot create objects larger than the 3D printing bed volume. One technique
that serves as a solution to overcome the size limitations in FDM is rotary
friction welding (RFW).
This research
discusses the tensile strength of RFW joints in PLA material fabricated using
FDM. Specimens were 3D printed using a Creality CR 10-S Pro 3D printer with PLA
material of 1.75 mm diameter. The specimen design followed ASTM E8– 22 specimen
3, and they were tested for tensile strength at a speed of 5 mm/minute. The
welding of the specimens was done at four different rotational speeds: 600,
900, 1200, and 1500 RPM.
The
research results show that the highest tensile strength was achieved at a speed
of 1200 RPM, with an average of 20.53 MPa. However, it is still lower compared
to specimens without welding. On the other hand, the lowest tensile strength
was observed at a speed of 600 RPM, with an average of 11.106 MPa. The
differences in tensile strength among the specimens tested at 600, 900, and
1500 RPM were not significantly significant, as indicated by the ANOVA
single-factor.
