PENGARUH LAMA PERENDAMAN DAN POSISI RADIAL TERHADAP MUTU VENIR KAYU KELAPA (Cocos sp) HASIL PERLAKUAN TEKNOLOGI ECOLOGY DIVERSITY SYNERGY (EDS)

Pemamaatan kayu kelapa hingga saat ini hanya terbatas pada kepentingan industri mebel dan kontruk:,i. Adai:,un pcnerapan teknologi untuk mengatasi kelemahan kayu kelapa yang berkemt,ang saat ini diantaranya teknologi Ecology o;versfty Synergy (EDS). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk rnengetahui pengaruh posisi radial dan lama perendaman terhadap rnutu venir dari kayu kelapa hasil penerapan teknologi EDS. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian acak lengkap berblok atau RCBD (R1ndomlzec Comp/11, Sloe!< O,!tgn) yang dlaueun Heare faktorlel dengan menggun,kan dua faktor, yaitu faktu posisl radial (rlekat kullt dan dekat hatl) dan lama perendaman (6 jam, 12 jam, dan 24 jam). Posisi aiut men;1acu pada Standar Nasional Indonesia 01r5008.2r2000 dengan beberapa modifikdsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukk,rn bahwa interaksi antara faktor posisi radial dan lama perendaman tidak bbrpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter yang diamati. Faktor posisi radial berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap persentase keseragaman korugasi namun tidak terhadap rararneter lainnya. Nilai p9rsentase kesera£;aman korugasi venir yang menunjukkan adanya tingkat ketebalan yang merata dicapai pada lama perendaman 12 Jam dengan nilai rata-rata 54,673/o baik posisi dekat kulit maupun dekat hati. Faktor lama perendaman berpenga,·uh nyata terhadap semua parameter yang diamati kecuali terhadap persentase keseragaman t????bal tipis dan panjang retak. Mutu venir cenderung menurun pada lama perendzman ????2 jam, dengan nilai persentase luas pecah 5,98% (dekat kulit), 5,59% (dekat hati). t-.!ilai persentase keseragaman wama mengalami penurunan seiring lama waktu oerendaman. Nilai keseragaman tertinggi dicapai pada lama perendaman 6 jam yaitu 78,76% (dekat kulit) dan 79,61% (dekat hati).

Hitherto, utilization of coconut limited to industrial necessity of furniture and contructions. Techno1ogy of Ecology Diversity Synergy (EDS) is often applied to solve the coconut wood limited use. This research aimed to know the effect position of radial and 10aklng duration on veneer quality of coconut wood treated by EDS technology. This research L:se Randomize Complet9 Block Design Methode arranged by 2 factors factorial, i.e. radial position (close to cortex and close to core) and soaking duration (6, 12, and 24 hour). Axial position of wood (base, midle and top) is crafted as block and each block ccnsisted of five repet<1tions. Result of variance analysis gi'Jing difference of reality is testt:C: ir. advance with HSD Tukey method. The parameter tested is veneer thickness dimension (uniformity of thick-thin and corrugation) and quality of veneer appearance (clecNage area, uniformity of colour and crack ler1gth). Observation method and measurement ????or the parameter refers to Indonesia National Standard 01-50082-2000 with a several modifications. Result of research indicates that interaction between radial position factors and soaking duration dcesn't have an significant effect towards parameters ob3erved. Radial position factors influenced significantly to percentage of corrugations uniformity yet not to other parameter. Percentage value of veneer corrugations uniformity show flat thickness level of uniformity is reached at 12 hours soaking with average value of 54,67% either near by cortex or near by core position. Soaking duration factor influenced apparently towards all parameters observed, except towards uniformity percentage of thick-thin and crack length. Quality of veneer tencis to declines at 12 hours soaking, with percentage of cleavage area 5,98% (near by cortex), 5,59% (near by core). Uniformity percentage value of colour experienced degradation alC"ng with soaking. Highest uniformity value reached at 6 hours soaking, i.e. 78, 76% (near br cortex) and 79,61 % (near by core).
