This
research aims to examine the market reaction to the announcements of the
Domestic Price Obligation (DPO) and Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) policies
for Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and its derivatives made on January 27, 2022, and the
Export Ban on CPO and its derivatives announced on April 28, 2022, for the palm
oil plantation companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This study
employs the event study method with a sample of 21 palm oil plantation
companies selected through purposive sampling.
The
research study on this event will examine the market response to an event or
announcement to determine whether it produces an excessive market reaction,
forming abnormal or unusual returns. Therefore, the stock price reaction of the
palm oil plantation issuer will be examined using statistical t-tests for
abnormal return (AR) calculations and differences in average trading volume
activity (ATVA) during the observation period.
The research results indicate that, with a significance level of 5%, there is abnormal return around the observation period for the first and second events. Additionally, there is a significant difference in average trading volume activity before and after the announcement of the first event, but there is no significant difference in average trading volume activity for the announcement of the second event.
