Skripsi ini membahas rancangan tata pamer koleksi herbarium di Museum Biologi UGM. Permasalahan yang dibahas ialah cara merancang pameran untuk koleksi herbarium kering di Museum Biologi UGM dikarenakan koleksi yang dipamerkan di museum belum bisa menyampaikan informasi dengan maksimal kepada pengunjung. Tujuannya ialah agar koleksi herbarium kering di Museum Biologi UGM dapat dipamerkan sesuai dengan pedoman Direktorat Museum dengan tetap memperhatikan prinsip konservasi koleksinya. Rancangan ini dibuat agar dapat menjadi rujukan bagi pengembangan ruang pamer koleksi herbarium di Museum Biologi UGM.
Tahapan rancangan ini Penelitian skripsi ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan penalaran induktif. Data yang diperoleh didapat dari hasil observasi lapangan, wawancara dan studi pustaka. Analisis dilakukan dengan cara evaluasi untuk mengetahui perbedaan kondisi museum dengan standar yang ada. Tahap perancangan museum berpedomankan kepada Direktorat Museum, yakni; tahap prakarsa yang terdiri dari merancang pokok-pokok pameran, tahap pembuatan konsep yang terdiri dari pembuatan alur cerita, penentuan teknik dan metode penyajian koleksi serta pengadaan koleksi yang akan di pamerkan. Terakhir, yaitu tahap pembuatan desain yang akan merancang konsep yang telah dirumuskan sebelumnya.
Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa Museum Biologi UGM memerlukan sebuah rancangan pameran untuk koleksi herbarium kering. Oleh karena itu, rancangan tata pamer dibuat meliputi perancangan tema, penetapan tujuan pameran, penetapan kelompok sasaran, penetapan jenis pameran, penetapan metode penyajian, koleksi yang ditampilkan, desain penyajian koleksi, sarana dan properti yang digunakan serta menjelaskan konsep display herbarium berbasis konservasi untuk mengatasi 10 penyebab kerusakan koleksi dan pedoman penanganan perawatan koleksi. Rancangan ini diharapkan dapat membantu peran dan tugas museum dalam menyampaikan informasi koleksi kepada pengunjung untuk tujuan pendidikan, penelitian, dan hiburan.

This thesis discusses the exhibition design of the herbarium collection of museum biologi UGM. The problem discussed is how to design an exhibition for the dry herbarium collection at the UGM Biology Museum because the collection on display at the museum has not been able to deliver optimal information to visitors. The purpose is that the dry herbarium collection at the Museum of Biology UGM can be exhibited in accordance with the guidelines of the Directorate of Museums and still consider the principle of conservation of the collection. This design is made to become a reference for the development of herbarium collection showrooms at the Museum of Biology UGM.
This design stage of this thesis research uses qualitative research methods with inductive reasoning. The data obtained were from field observations, interviews and literature studies. The analysis was made by evaluation to find out the difference between the condition of the museum and the existing standards. The museum design stage is guided by the Directorate of Museums, which is; the initiation stage which consists of designing exhibition points, the concept creation stage which consists of creating a storyline, determining techniques and methods of presenting collections and procuring collections that will be exhibited. Finally, the design-making stage will design the concept that has been previously defined.
The conclusion of this research is that the UGM Biology Museum needs an exhibition design for the dry herbarium collection. Therefore, the exhibition design includes designing the theme, determining the purpose of the exhibition, determining the target group, determining the type of exhibition, determining the method of presentation, the collection displayed, the design of the presentation of the collection, the facilities and properties used and explaining the concept of conservation-based herbarium display to overcome the 10 causes of collection damage and guidelines for handling collection care. This design is expected to help the role and task of the museum in conveying collection information to visitors for educational, research and entertainment purposes.
