MITOS DAN KEYAKINAN TENTANG DISABILITAS: (Studi atas Pergumulan dan Empowerment Penyandang Disabilitas di Rumah Inklusif Kebumen

Penelitian ini mengangkat tema mitos dan keyakinan terkait dengan disabilitas serta dampaknya terhadap proses pergumulan dan pemberdayaan penyandang disabilitas di Rumah Inklusif Kebumen. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami bagaimana mitos dan keyakinan masyarakat sekitar mempengaruhi pengalaman penyandang disabilitas dalam menghadapi tantangan sehari-hari, bagaimana rumah inklusif berperan dalam memberdayakan mereka, serta menelisik cara pandang agama dan budaya terhadap mitos tersebut khususnya pada disabilitas. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif dan dokumentasi. Responden dalam penelitian ini meliputi penyandang disabilitas, keluarga mereka, pengelola Rumah Inklusif Kebumen, serta para tokoh agama dan budayawan. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dan interpretatif untuk mengidentifikasi pola-pola umum terkait mitos dan keyakinan yang memengaruhi penyandang disabilitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mitos dan keyakinan yang berkembang dalam masyarakat memiliki dampak signifikan terhadap persepsi dan pengalaman penyandang disabilitas khususnya pada pergumulan mereka yakni penolakan dan penerimaan. Beberapa mitos dan keyakinan di antaranya penyandang disabilitas adalah kutukan Tuhan, lemah tak berdaya, dapat menular, anugerah Tuhan, anak istimewa, dan sebagai sumber inspirasi. Sejalan dengan itu, rumah inklusif di Kebumen mendukung pemberdayaan penyandang disabilitas dalam pergumulan mereka mengenai mitos dan keyakinan yang beredar. Beberapa contohnya dengan program-program yang mengacup pada berbagai pendekatan yakni pendekatan spiritual, pendidikan dan sosial, ekonomi, dan tentunya kebudayaan. Berdasarkan dari pemberdayaan yang Rumah Inklusif Kebumen berikan kepada penyandang disabilitas terhadap pergumulan mereka, membuktikan respon yang cepat terkait kehadiran mitos dan keyakinan di lingkungannya terkait stereotip penyandang disabilitas. Bersamaan dengan hal di atas cara pandang atau persepsi dari masyarakat lokal, tokoh agama, dan budayawan juga menaggapi terkait mitos dan keyakinan terhadap penyandang disabilitas, yang tentunya signifikan sekali dalam melihat dukungan, serta tantangan dari pemberdayaan tersebut. Di sisi lain, uniknya penelitian ini adalah adanya transformasi penting yang diberikan oleh Rumah Inklusif Kebumen dalam memahami atau merespon mitos dan keyakinan yang ada khususnya pada penyandang disabilitas, seperti pendidikan kesadaran, dukungan psikososial, promosi keterlibatan sosial, advokasi pemberdayaan, dan model peran yang positif. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan kemampuan untuk melihat dan memahami berbagai mitos dan keyakinan terhadap penyandang disabilitas, menunjukan langkah awal dalam kajian disabilitas yang berusaha mengkaji mitos dan keyakinan terhadap mereka secara mendalam, serta menelisik tata cara pemberdayaan penyandang disabilitas yang dilakukan oleh Rumah Inklusif Kebumen. 

This research explores the theme of myths and beliefs related to disabilities and their impact on the struggles and empowerment of people with disabilities in the Rumah Inklusif Kebumen. The main objective of this research is to understand how myths and beliefs held by the surrounding community influence the experiences of people with disabilities in facing everyday challenges, how inclusive homes play a role in empowering them, and to investigate the religious and cultural perspectives on these myths, particularly regarding disabilities. The research methodology used a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation as data collection tools. The respondents in this study included people with disabilities, their families, the managers of the Rumah Inklusif Kebumen, as well as religious and cultural figures. The data were then analyzed using descriptive and interpretative analysis techniques, including literature review and field data to identify common patterns related to myths and beliefs affecting people with disabilities. The research results indicate that the myths and beliefs prevalent in society have a significant impact on the perceptions and experiences of people with disabilities, particularly in their struggles of acceptance and rejection. Some of the myths and beliefs include viewing people with disabilities as a curse from God, powerless, contagious, as God's blessing, special children, and a source of inspiration. However, the Rumah Inklusif Kebumen has become a supportive environment for empowering people with disabilities in their struggles, which are related to the existing myths and beliefs. Examples of this empowerment include programs based on various approaches, such as spiritual, educational, social, economic, and cultural approaches. Based on the empowerment provided by the Rumah Inklusif Kebumen to people with disabilities in their struggles, it demonstrates a rapid response to the presence of myths and beliefs in their environment related to stereotypes of people with disabilities. Simultaneously, the perspectives or perceptions of the local community, religious figures, and cultural figures also respond to myths and beliefs about people with disabilities, which are significant in assessing the support and challenges of this empowerment. On the other hand, the uniqueness of this research lies in the essential transformation provided by the Rumah Inklusif Kebumen in understanding or responding to existing myths and beliefs, especially regarding people with disabilities. Some of these transformations include awareness education, psychosocial support, promotion of social involvement, advocacy for empowerment, and positive role modeling. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the ability to observe and understand various myths and beliefs present in people with disabilities in their struggles, serving as an initial step in disability studies that seek to delve deeply into myths and beliefs about them, as well as recognizing the empowerment efforts carried out by the Rumah Inklusif Kebumen for people with disabilities. Hopefully, that this research can provide insights into creating a more inclusive society, including people with disabilities.
