PT Geodipa Energi
Dieng menghasilkan lumpur silika geotermal 3000 ton/tahun. Lumpur silika geothermal
elektrolisis lumpur silika geotermal.
Selanjutnya, produk elektrolisis yaitu endapan logam silikon pada katoda
dianalisis menggunakan efisiensi faradaic. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan elektrolisis
optimum diperoleh sebesar 98% pada suhu 70°C dan densitas arus 400 A/m². Parameter
kinetika dianalisa pada densitas arus 800 A/m2
yaitu koefisien reaksi kimia (kf) dan
koefisien tranfer katoda (???????? ) masing-masing sebesar 1,7636 x 10-7 menit-1 dan 0,2137
PT Geodipa Energi Dieng produces geothermal silica sludge, a well-known waste
byproduct of geothermal power generation, at a rate of about 3000 tons annually. This
geothermal silica sludge contains notably high concentrations of important components, with
silicon (Si) being a main constituent. Numerous investigations have been carried out to
investigate various techniques for removing silicon from geothermal silica sludge, such as
carbothermic and magnesiothermic procedures. The current study uses an electrochemical
technique to separate silicon compounds from geothermal silica sludge, which is considered a
possible fuel source for metal fuel applications and a future ecologically friendly energy source.
This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of using the direct electrochemical reduction
method to produce silicon metal from geothermal silica sludge. Geothermal silica sludge samples
are obtained from PT Geodipa Energi in Dieng, Indonesia, and subjected to X-ray fluorescence
(XRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) examinations to ascertain their mineralogical and chemical
composition. A geothermal silica sludge electrolyte solution with a 4 M NaOH concentration is
used to conduct the electrolysis process. Temperature and current density variations are
methodically investigated to determine the ideal operating parameters for the geothermal silica
sludge electrolysis process.
The electrolysis product—silicon metal deposition using Faradaic efficiency on the
cathode—is examined. This examination provides insights into the mass of the product for
gravimetric assessment as well as the Faradaic efficiency of the electrolysis process. From this
study the best of faradaic efficiency is 98% with temperature of 70°C and a current density of 400
A/m². A greater current density of 800 A/m² is also used to investigate kinetic characteristics,
showing important values like as the cathode transfer coefficient (?c) and chemical reaction rate
coefficient (kf), which are found to be 1.7636 x 10^-7 minute^-1 and 0.2137.
