In this study, an analysis of the micronutrient and heavy metal content in a mixture of rice husk ash and chicken feather protein extract for soil restoration was carried out using chicken feathers as a source of protein and synthetic humus. The aim of this research is to determine the formation of synthetic humus contained in a mixture of rice husk ash and phosphorylated chicken feather protein extract and to understand the micronutrient and heavy metal content of iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni), chrome (Cr), lead (Pb), and cadmium (Cd) in a mixture of rice husk ash and phosphorylated chicken feather protein extract as a source of biofortification.
This research began with making protein extracts through a hydrothermal extraction process with technical CaO and KOH reagents. The protein extract was then phosphorylated to neutral pH. Samples of soil restorator (BPT) materials were made from a mixture of rice husk ash and phosphorylated protein extract with weight variations of 1:2 and 2:1 which were dried until the water content was constant. The samples were then analyzed by FTIR, XRD, AAS, UV-Vis and HPLC. After that, the soil restorator samples were applied to the water spinach plant seedbed to determine its performance. The FTIR characterization spectra of both variations of BPT samples show the absorption of carbonyl, carboxyl, hydroxyl, amine, amide and sulfhydryl/thiol groups which indicate the identity of natural humus groups. HPLC analysis confirmed the formation of amino acids in the samples. The XRD diffractogram shows that the BPT particles are amorphous. The results of UV-Vis analysis showed that the humic acid levels for BPT 1:2 and BPT 2:1 were 0.32% and 0.1% respectively, and fulvic acid were 6.62% and 1.25%. The results of the AAS analysis showed that the heavy metal and micronutrient content in the samples met the requirements according to Ministry of Agriculture Regulation No. 261/KPTS/SR.310/M/4/2019. The application of soil restorator to the growth of water spinach plants shows that the BPT 2:1 sample is the most optimal sample supported by the highest chlorophyll data in the leaves.
