Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a poisonous and explosive gas that endangers human health. Among the gases produced by combustion (such as CO, CO2, NOx, etc.) the detection of carbon monoxide is very important because of its high toxicity, colorless, tasteless, and odorless, in other words, it is impossible to detect it by the human senses. Air quality monitoring is a form of disaster mitigation. Considering that air is an important aspect and needs to be considered in environmental health.
This research uses an experimental method in designing a carbon monoxide gas monitoring system for environmental health disaster mitigation. CO gas is sensed using an electrochemical based SEN-0466 detektor module which the output is a digital signal. The detektor was tested for reliability against changing environmental conditions and accuracy after obtaining the ppm of CO gas correction factor equation. Acquisition data is sent to the Google Apps Script server and stored in a Google Sheet. Data transmission is tested based on the system’s ability to work in real-time. CO gas hazard status will be displayed on the looker studio-based dashboard as an early warning system.
The result of this research is a CO gas concentration monitoring system for environmental health disaster mitigation that has been successfully designed. The accuracy of the system in performing data acquisition is ±16.95 ppm based on the RMSE method using the correction factor equation. In addition, the system has managed to work in real-time with an average total time of the data acquisition and delivery process of 7,2 seconds in each data acquisition and transmission period of 1 minute with 0% of PER value.
