This study investigates how Indonesian family companies maintain a balance between tradition and innovation. A thematic study of seven case studies demonstrates how these companies frequently integrate tradition into their innovation actions unknowingly. This integration is based on the "Innovation Through Tradition" (ITT) concept and has its origins in the Source of past knowledge, the form of past knowledge, Product innovation, and interiorization and interpretation. The study addresses the deliberately planned integration of tradition into organizational ideals, behaviors, products, and ambiance. Access to both and present-day information is ensured via knowledge distribution systems. While the emphasis is on gradual innovation, these family firms show a commitment to conserving traditions while managing innovation in their everyday activities.
