Pengaruh Suhu Pegempaan dan Amonium Dihidrogen Fosfat terhadap Karakteristik Papan Partikel Inti Kenaf

Kenaf core is a lignocellulosic material which has the potential to be used as raw material for particle board. The board can be made without using adhesives (binderless board) by activating the chemical components in kenaf core (self-bonding). The effect of pressing temperature and the addition of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (ADP) as a catalyst to binderless board is thought to improve the quality of the particle board. Therefore, this research aims to determine the effect of the interaction of pressing temperature and the amount of ADP on the characteristics of kenaf core board particles.
Particle boards are made using a size of 15 x 25 x 1 cm with a target density of 0.8 g/cm3. The pressing temperature factor uses two levels, 180ºC and 200ºC, while the ADP uses three levels, 10%, 15% and 20%. Hot pressing was carried out for 10 minutes with a pressure of 3 MPa using the three-step method. The properties of particleboards were measured based on Japanese Industrial Standard A 5908 (2015) and FAO (1996). The research data were analyzed using one-way and two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) then tested further using Honest Significant Difference (HSD).
The results showed that the pressing temperature and amount of ADP did not show any interaction with all test parameters. The pressing temperature has a significant effect on the board density parameters, then the amount of ADP has a significant effect on the parameters of moisture content, thickness swelling, internal bonding, modulus of elasticity (MoE) dan modulus of rupture (MoR). The best kenaf core particle board are produced from boards treated with a pressing temperature of 200ºC and 20?F with a density value of 0.649 g/cm3, moisture content of 9.656%, thickness swelling of 71.480%, water absorption of 164.240%, internal bonding of 0.149 MPa, MoE of 0.838 GPa, and MoR of 2.128 MPa.
