PERBANDINGAN ORAL HYGIENE INDEX SIMPLIFIED PADA PENGGUNA DAN BUKAN PENGGUNA ORTODONTI CEKAT

Kesehatan gigi dan mulut adalah bagian dari kesehatan tubuh yang tidak dapat dipisahkan satu dan lainnya karena akan mempengaruhi kesehatan tubuh  secara keseluruhan. Alat ortodonti cekat adalah alat ortodonti yang melekat pada gigi-geligi tidak bisa dilepas dan dipasang sendiri oleh pasien sehingga pengguna ortodonti cekat lebih sulit memelihara kebersihan rongga mulut. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perbedaan OHI-S pada pengguna dan bukan pengguna ortodonti cekat.

Penelitian menggunakan analitik observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi angkatan 2020-2022 Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Gadjah Mada pemakai alat ortodonti cekat dan bukan pemakai alat ortodonti cekat yang memenuhi kriteria  inklusi. Setiap kelompok masing-masing sebanyak 17 responden. Pengukuran tingkat kebersihan gigi dan mulut menggunakan instrumen index OHI-S. Analisis data digunakan analisis deskriptif dan analisis uji Mann Whitney, yang semua  pengerjaannya menggunakan program SPSS.

Hasil penelitian diperoleh rerata OHI-S kelompok pengguna ortodonti cekat  sebesar 1,71 dan bukan pengguna ortodonti cekat sebesar 1,40. Nilai OHI-S  pengguna ortodonti cekat lebih besar secara signifikan dari pada bukan pengguna ortodonti cekat (p<0>

Dental and oral health are parts of body health that cannot be separated from each other because they will affect overall body health. Fixed orthodontic appliances are orthodontic appliances that are attached to the teeth and cannot be removed and installed by the patient themselves, making it more difficult for users of fixed orthodontics to maintain oral hygiene. This study aims to determine the differences in OHI-S between users and non-users of fixed orthodontics.

The research uses observational analytics with a cross-sectional approach. The research subjects were students from the Faculty of Dentistry class 2020-2022, Faculty of Dentistry, Gadjah Mada University, users of fixed orthodontic appliances, and non-users of fixed orthodontic appliances who met the inclusion criteria. Each group had 17 respondents each. Measurement of the level of dental and oral hygiene using the OHI-S index instrument. Data analysis used descriptive analysis and Mann-Whitney test analysis, all of which were carried out using the SPSS program.

The research results showed that the OHI-S mean for the group using fixed orthodontics was 1.71, and non-users, it was 1.40. The OHI-S value of fixed orthodontic users was significantly greater than that of non-fixed orthodontic users (p<0>
