Konsep pendidikan sekolah alam Lendo Novo dalam perspektif filsafat pendidikan John Dewey

Penelitian konsep pendidikan sekolah alam Lendo Novo dalam perspektif filsafat pendidikan John Dewey dilatarbelakangi oleh sistem pendidikan formal di Indonesia yang dianggap belum mampu memenuhi kebutuhan pendidikan anak. Konsep pendidikan sekolah alam Lendo Novo hadir sebagai konsep pendidikan alternatif di tengah-tengah permasalahan yang ada di dalam pendidikan formal khususnya di Indonesia. Lendo Novo melalui konsep pendidikan sekolah alam menekankan pendidikan yang berpusat pada anak dan memberikan pembelajaran yang sesuai minat bakat anak melalui alam sebagai basis utama dalam pemberian pembelajaran. Pendidikan sekolah alam sebagai sebuah konsep pendidikan memiliki tujuan pendidikan menjadikan anak sebagai rahmatan lil ‘alamin yang berarti "kasih sayang bagi semesta alam", atau kehadiran peserta didik di tengah masyarakat mampu mewujudkan kedamaian dan kasih sayang bagi manusia lainnya maupun alam semesta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman dengan jelas mengenai filsafat pendidikan John Dewey, memaparkan dengan jelas mengenai konsep pendidikan sekolah alam Lendo Novo, dan gambaran mengenai konsep pendidikan Lendo Novo dalam perspektif filsafat pendidikan John Dewey.

Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kepustakaan. Objek material yang akan dilakukan penelitian adalah konsep pendidikan sekolah alam Lendo Novo, sedangkan objek formal yang digunakan untuk menganalisis konsep pendidikan sekolah alam Lendo Novo adalah filsafat pendidikan John Dewey. Penelitian ini dijalankan melalui empat tahapan yaitu perencanaan, inventarisasi dan klasifikasi data, analisis serta penyusunan hasil. Analisis hasil penelitian menggunakan metode hermeneutika filosofis dengan unsur-unsur metodis berupa deskriptif, interpretasi, kesinambungan historis, holistik dan refleksi penelitian.   

Hasil yang dicapai dari penelitian ini adalah, pertama;  Konsep pendidikan sekolah alam Lendo Novo adalah konsep pendidikan alternatif yang menjadikan anak sebagai pusat pendidikan dan menjadikan alam sebagai basis pembelajaran yang didasarkan pada pengembangan minat bakat anak. Kedua; filsafat pendidikan John Dewey adalah pendidikan progresif yaitu pendidikan menjadikan anak sebagai pusat dan subjek aktif pendidikan. Kurikulum pendidikan didasarkan pada minat dan pengalaman nyata anak. Pendidikan merupakan sebuah proses bagi anak untuk dapat mengaktualisasikan diri di lingkungan masyarakat. Ketiga; filsafat pendidikan John Dewey memandang unsur konsep pendidikan sekolah alam Lendo Novo sebagai konsep pendidikan yang memberikan kesempatan anak untuk dapat belajar sesuai dengan minat bakat anak. Metode pembelajaran, kurikulum, hubungan murid dengan guru, konsep moral dan demokrasi dipandang sejalan dengan filsafat pendidikan John Dewey dengan menekankan pengalaman belajar langsung, fleksibilitas dan tanpa memberi jarak antara lingkungan pembelajaran dengan lingkungan nyata anak. 

The research "Lendo Novo's concept of natural school education in the perspective of John Dewey's philosophy of education" is motivated by the formal education system in Indonesia which is considered unable to meet the educational needs of children. Lendo Novo's concept of nature school education comes as an alternative education concept in the midst of the problems that exist in formal education, especially in Indonesia. Lendo Novo through the concept of nature school education emphasizes child-centered education and provides learning that matches the interests of children's talents through nature as the main basis for providing learning. Nature school education as an educational concept has an educational goal of making children as rahmatan lil 'alamin which means "compassion for the universe", or the presence of students in the community is able to realize peace and compassion for other humans and the universe. This research aims to gain a clear understanding of John Dewey's philosophy of education, clearly explain the concept of Lendo Novo's nature school education, and describe Lendo Novo's concept of education from the perspective of John Dewey's philosophy of education.

This research is a type of literature research. The material object of the research is Lendo Novo's concept of natural school education, while the formal object used to analyze Lendo Novo's concept of natural school education is John Dewey's philosophy of education. This research is carried out through four stages, namely planning, inventory and classification of data, analysis and preparation of results. The analysis of the research results used the philosophical hermeneutic method with methodical elements such as descriptive, interpretation, historical continuity, holistic and research reflection. 

The results achieved from this research are, first; Lendo Novo's concept of natural school education is an alternative education concept that makes children the center of education and makes nature the basis of learning based on the development of children's interests and talents. Second, John Dewey's educational philosophy is progressive education, which makes children the center and active subject of education. The educational curriculum is based on the interests and real experiences of children. Education is a process for children to be able to actualize themselves in the community environment. Third, John Dewey's philosophy of education views the elements of the Lendo Novo natural school education concept as an education concept that provides opportunities for children to learn according to their interests and talents. Learning methods, curriculum, student-teacher relationships, moral concepts and democracy are seen as in line with John Dewey's educational philosophy by emphasizing direct learning experiences, flexibility and without providing distance between the learning environment and the child's real environment.
