Penggunaan complete feed berbasis jerami padi fermentasi pada sapi australian commercial cross terhadap konsumsi nutrien, pertambahan bobot badan dan kualitas karkas

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbandingan penggunaan Complete Feed (CF) berbasis jerami padi fermentasi (JPF) terhadap konsumsi, PBBH, IOFC, FCR, persentase karkas dan kualitas fisik-kimia daging. Sejumlah 36 ekor sapi Australian Commercial Cross (ACC) steer berat badan awal 310 - 330 kg, umur 1,5 – 2 tahun dalam 6 flok dan setiap flok berisi 6 ekor. Ransum CF diberikan 3% BB (konsentrat 75% dan JPF 25%), sedangkan ransum konvensional (KF) sebagai kontrol berupa konsentrat (K) 2% BB dan JPF diberikan secara ad libitum. Formulasi Complete feed disusun sesuai dengan kebutuhan nutrisi untuk ternak potong sebagaimana direkomendasikan oleh NRC (1984). Air minum diberikan ad libitum. Lama pemeliharaan 12 minggu dengan sebelumnya ada waktu adaptasi pakan selama 10 hari. Pakan diberikan dua kali, pagi jam 08.00 dan sore jam 15.00. Penimbangan sapi setiap dua minggu sekali. Data konsumsi pakan diambil setiap hari dan dikomposit secara kolektif pada setiap flock setiap minggu. Data karkas dan kualitas daging (warna, susut masak, keempukan, daya ikat air, pH, kadar air, abu, protein, dan kholesterol) diambil dari pemotongan 3 ekor sapi pada setiap flock dengan mengambil sampel (500 g) bagian otot Biceps femoris (BF) dan Longissimus dorsi (LD). Semua data yang diperoleh dilakukan uji analisis dengan T-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa total dikonsumsi (kg) CF vs KF berturut turut BK (9,5 vs 9,4 kg) dan BO (9,5 vs 9,6 kg) keduanya tidak berbeda nyata serta PK (897 vs 806 g) berbeda nyata, dengan rerata konsumsi dalam persen BB adalah 2,6 vs 2,7% (P=0,09). Pengaruh pakan CF pada produktivitas ADG, IOFC, persentase karkas, dan FCR menunjukkan lebih baik daripada KF. Pada semua variabel kualitas fisik-kimia daging kedua jenis pakan menunjukkan berbeda tidak nyata baik pada bagian LD maupun BF kecuali daya ikat air (DIA) yaitu pada LD 50,82 vs 38,28% (P<0,05), pada BF 48,10 vs 34,38% (P<0,05). Secara umum pakan CF berbasis jerami padi fermentasi menunjukkan penampilan yang lebih baik daripada KF pada sapi ACC steer selama tiga bulan pemeliharaan

The objectives of this research were to study the utilization of complete feed (CF) based on fermented rice straw (FRS) for Australian Commercial Cross (ACC) steer on the nutrient intake, body weight, income over feed cost (IOFC), feed cost ratio (FCR), carcass percentage and physical-chemical quality of meat. Thirty six steers of 1.5-2 years of age (310-330 kg) were divided into two groups (treatment vs control) three herds consisting of six herds were used. In the treatment groups, animals were offered 3% BW of CF (consisting of concentrate 75% and FRS 25%), while in the control group, animals received 2% BW of concentrate and FRS ad libitum . Complete feed was formulated to cover the nutrient requirement of beef cattle as recommended by NRC (1984). The drinking water was given ad libitum. Before feeding treatment (three months) started animals were adapted on feed forb10 days. Feed was given twice a day (08.00 p.m. and 15.00 p.m.). BW was controlled every two weeks. The data of intake were controlled everyday. Data of carcass and meat quality (colour, water-holding capacity (WHC), cooking loss and tenderness, pH, protein, ash, and cholesterol) were taken from three heads per herd, slaughtered at the end of the treatment. Samples (500 g) were taken from Biceps femoris (BF) and Longissimus dorsi (LD). Collected data, were analysed by T-test. The DM (9.5 vs 9.4 kg) and OM (9.5 vs 9.6 kg) intake in both treatments were not significantly different. While for CP intake in group CF was higher than in on KF group (897 vs 806 g ; P<0.05). The effect of CF on ADG, IOFC, carcass percentage, and FCR was better than KF. For all of the variables, the physical-chemical quality of meat showed that there was no significant difference between groups either in the Biceps femoris (BF) or in the Longissimus dorsi (LD), except for WHC in LD (50.82 vs 38.28% ; P<0.05), and BF (48.10 vs 34.38% ; P<0.05). It could be concluded that CF based FRS indicated better result than did KF on ACC steer performance raised for 3 months.
