Pengelolaan hutan secara swadaya oleh masyarakat pada saat ini lebih optimal untuk dapat mengelola hutan dengan baik. Desa Semin merupakan salah satu desa yang pengelolaan hutan rakyatnya secara swadaya masyarakat. Pengelolaan hutan rakyat secara swadaya merupakan salah satu wuj ud kepedulian masyarakat pada lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui potensi yang ada di desa semin, mengetahui manfaat hutan rakyat bagi masyarakat, mengetahui peran swadaya dalam pengelolaan hutan dari penanaman sampai pemasaran basil hutan, mengetahui pengembangan yang harus dikembangkan pada desa tersebut. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Semin, Kecamatan Semin, Kabupaten Gunung Kidul pada bu]an Agustus sampai September 2004. Dalam penelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah metode survey dengan pengambiian sampel menggunakan purposive sampling, dan untuk menganalisanya digunakan metode deskriptif. Jenis data yang dikumpulkan meliputi data primer dan data sekunder. Dalam penelitian ini diperoleh hasil potensi dari ketiga bentuk hutan rakyat yaitu pekarangan yang paling besar ada pada dusun Mandesan dengan volume 11,247

This research is executed [by] [in] Countryside of Semin, District Of Semin, Sub-Province Mount of Kidul in August until September 2004. In this research [ of] method the used is method of survey with intake of sampel use sampling purposive, and to analyse him used [by] descriptive method. collected Data type cover primary data and data of sekunder. In this research is obtained [by] result of potency from third form people forest that is biggest lawn [is] on orchard of Mandesan with volume 11,247 m3 / ha with trees amount 108 tree I ha and Lbds equal to 0,643 m2 / ha. Form biggest non irigated dry field people forest [ of] Unlucky Heron orchard with volume 11,239 m3 / ha with trees amount 91 tree / ha, and Lbds equal to 2,613 m2 / ha. Form people forest of tebo I biggest pallet that is orchard of Mandesan with volume 28,123 m3 I ha, amount of trees 225 tree/ ha, and Lbds equal to 6,168 m2 / ha. For the management of most regular forest manage their farm that is [at] Unlucky Heron orchard. most typical Benefit [at] this orchard
