Shallot is a strategic horticultural commodity and has high economic value. Intensive cultivation and the use of inorganic fertilizers that tend to be in high quantities can have a negatif impact on environmental damage, such as soil degradation, micronutrient deficiency, toxicity to organisms, an increase in weeds, and water pollution. Therefore, technological innovation is needed to increase production sustainability by reducing inorganic fertilizers by adding amino acid biostimulants. Amino acid-based biostimulants can regulate nitrate uptake and assimilation by influencing the activity of enzymes participating in nitrogen metabolism in plants. The research aimed to study the effective dose and application method of amino acid biostimulants for the growth and yield of shallots. The research was arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) consisting of two factors with four blocks as replications. The first factor was the dose of biostimulants (0 L.ha?¹ control, 0.5 L.ha?¹, 1 L.ha?¹, 2 L.ha?¹), and the second factor was the application method (through leaves and soil). The observations were done on microclimate variables, soil chemical characters, phytohormone activity, biochemistry, physiology, as well as growth and yield of shallot. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance with a level of confidence of 95%, followed by an honest significant difference (HSD) test ?=5%. The results showed that applying amino acids biostimulants increased the content of phytohormones (IAA, gibberellin, zeatin, and kinetin) and plant nutrients (N, P, K, B and Mn). A biostimulants dose of 1 L.ha?¹ increased root length, leaf diameter, leaf fresh weight, leaf dry weight, number of tubers, productivity, and dry weight of drying shallots. Meanwhile, the application method through leaves and soil showed the same results.
