Most of the development of tourism areas has the potential to cause ecological pressure on the Nusa Penida MPA. Perception and participation in the management activities of the Nusa Penida MPA is important because the community is the first to feel the impact of tourism activities and is supported by an economic valuation of tourism in the area. The government's role is also important in implementing appropriate policies to support tourism development in the Nusa Penida MPA. This study used a survey method in the form of a questionnaire on 80 people in Jungutbatu Village and 50 tourists who visited the Nusa Penida MPA, as well as interviews with the Village Government, Regional Government, UPTD Bali Marine Protected Areas, and traditional leaders.
The results showed that the level of public perception and participation in the Nusa Penida MPA was in the sufficient category with percentages of 57.7% and 56.4%, respectively. Perceived and community values are strongly influenced by demographic characteristics such as age and community education. The total value of direct benefits at the Nusa Penida MPA is Rp. 32,685,835,864 with an economic value for the Nusa Penida MPA tourism of Rp. 155,784,219,756/ year. The high value of the benefits of the marine tourism sector shows that the existence of the marine environment in the Nusa Penida MPA is important in the sustainability of the Nusa Penida MPA tourism.
So far, the Provincial Government of Bali and the Regional Government of Klungkung have played a role in tourism management at the Nusa Penida MPA. One of them is the construction of sea transportation in the form of docks at three ports to facilitate access and equal distribution of tourism at the Nusa Penida MPA. The Jungutbatu Village Government also participates in managing the environment at the Nusa Penida MPA through cleaning and releasing fishery seeds. However, the Jungutbatu Village Traditional Institution does not yet have regulations or awig-awig that can be used in managing environmental areas in their area. Strategies and policy recommendations in the management of tourism activities in the Nusa Penida MPA through integrated management. Formation of a system or institution through the KKP Network that is able to coordinate activities so that there is no overlapping in their management, and the application of the blue economy to the Nusa Penida MPA.
