Sustainable tourism is tourism that focuses on balancing three main aspects, namely social, environmental, and economic aspects to meet the needs of tourists, the tourism industry, the environment, and local communities. Central Moluccas Regency, Moluccas Province, has 9 tourist villages registered in the Tourism Village Network of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2022 with the categories of pioneering, developing, and advanced, one of which is Negeri Oma Tourism Village. Currently, the development of tourism in Negeri Oma has not shown significant progress in the three main aspects of sustainable tourism (social, environmental, and economic), especially in social and environmental aspects. The purpose of this study was to map the conditions and development of tourism attractions, accessibility, and amenities in the Negeri Oma Tourism Village, identify the criteria and values of sustainability, and formulate a Tourism Village as the basis for a strategy for developing the concept of sustainable tourism.
This study used a qualitative descriptive research method, in which data and information from the field were examined with the support of theories related to the research topic. The research location is in Negeri Oma, Central Maluku Regency which is one of the Tourism Villages with a developing category. Some of its natural uniqueness is a natural freshwater spring called Air Asol, natural hot springs namely Hot Water Asol and Hot Water Bak, Sila Beach, and Tanjung Simale which are scattered in the Negeri Oma Tourism Village area. This study uses data collection methods through observation and interviews with several tourism actors. The results of data collection were then processed descriptively based on the variables and parameters of the theories used.
The results of the study show that, in a span of five years, from 2019 to 2023, the development of attractions, accessibility, and amenities has increased but has not been evenly distributed, and maintenance is lacking so that it does not function optimally. Physical criteria indicate that several physical support facilities (tourism and non-tourism) are available but are still incomplete, low quality, and lack of management and rejuvenation. Meanwhile, non-physical criteria indicate that the government and local communities are very supportive, getting involved, and happy with tourism activities, but the availability of written information is still needed, to empower local communities in providing tourism-related services through training and outreach. Tourism Villages can be used as a basis for a strategy for developing the concept of sustainable tourism in Negeri Oma, but several things need to be considered in developing a sustainable direction, meeting the needs of tourists, and increasing tourist visits.
