Isobutyl palmitate is one of the ester compounds made from isobutyl alcohol and palmitic acid as raw materials. Isobutyl palmitate is a colorless liquid which has the molecular formula C20H40O2. This compound is an intermediate compound used as a solvent in the cosmetics industry. In addition, isobutyl palmitate is also used as a solvent in the paint industry, plasticizer in the plastic industry to flavoring agent in the food industry. Until now, no isobutyl palmitate plant has been established in Indonesia so, by looking at the number of isobutyl palmitate needs in Indonesia and in the ASEAN region which continues to increase, this plant has the opportunity to be established. This isobutyl palmitate plant proposal from isobutyl alcohol and palmitic acid is intended to determine the feasibility of establishing a plant that produces isobutyl palmitate compounds with a production capacity of 30,000/year. The plant is designed to operate for 330 days/year and 24 hours/day. The production process of isobutyl palmitate uses the fischer-speier esterification process using the main raw material in the form of isobutyl alcohol as much as 7200 tons/year and palmitic acid as much as 27800 tons/year, while for auxiliary raw materials sulfuric acid is used as much as 70 tons/year and sodium hydroxide as much as 140 tons/year.
