Pengaruh Kompetensi Kepemimpinan Manajer Proyek terhadap Kinerja Organisasi Berbasis Proyek di Indonesia dengan Kompleksitas Proyek sebagai Variabel Moderator

Perkembangan organisasi berbasis proyek di Indonesia semakin meluas dan dapat ditemukan di berbagai sektor. Organisasi tersebut menghasilkan pendapatan dengan mengerjakan suatu proyek untuk memenuhi sifat permintaan yang beragam dan disesuaikan oleh konsumen. Proyek yang dikerjakan bersifat unik sehingga tidak dapat ditangani secara efektif oleh otoritas formal administrasi/manajemen. Selain itu, meningkatnya faktor kompleksitas dalam suatu proyek membuat tantangan dalam mengelola proyek semakin sulit. Salah satu faktor keberhasilan organisasi dalam pelaksanaan proyeknya adalah faktor kepemimpinan manajer proyek. Untuk itu, peran manajer proyek dalam organisasi berbasis proyek dinilai cukup signifikan sehingga seorang manajer proyek membutuhkan keterampilan dan kompetensi yang unik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh kompetensi kepemimpinan manajer proyek terhadap kinerja organisasi berbasis proyek di Indonesia dengan kompleksitas proyek sebagai variabel moderator.
Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner yang diadaptasi dari penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya untuk menilai kompetensi kepemimpinan manajer proyek serta kompleksitas dan kinerja proyek. Instrumen penelitian tersebut kemudian dibagikan kepada manajer proyek, jabatan setara, atau level di atasnya dari berbagai organisasi proyek di Indonesia dengan menerapkan metode purposive sampling. Sejumlah 64 data responden yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan metode statistik multivariat berupa Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) untuk menguji hipotesis penelitian.
Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi kepemimpinan manajer proyek dan kompleksitas proyek secara positif mempengaruhi kinerja organisasi berbasis proyek di Indonesia. Namun, kompleksitas proyek tidak memoderasi hubungan positif antara kompetensi kepemimpinan manajer proyek dan kinerja proyek. Dalam penelitian ini juga dilakukan analisis mendalam untuk menguji hipotesis yang sama untuk ketiga jenis industri yang berbeda, yaitu industri konsultan, industri konstruksi infrastruktur, dan industri Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) dan didapatkan hasil yang berbeda. Penelitian ini juga menganalisis tingkat kesuksesan proyek berdasarkan triple constraint. Dari hasil pengklasifikasian berdasarkan kategori kesuksesan proyek, didapatkan hasil bahwa 59% proyek merupakan kategori proyek sukses, di mana tidak terjadi keterlambatan atau over budget dalam pengerjaan proyek dan 6% proyek termasuk ke dalam kategori proyek tidak sukses, di mana terjadi keterlambatan dan over budget dalam pengerjaan proyek.
The development of project-based organizations in Indonesia is expanding across various sectors. These organizations generate revenue by working on project to meet diversified and customized consumer demands. The Projects is unique in nature so that it cannot be effectively managed by formal administrative or management authorities. Moreover, the increasing complexity factor in projects presents challenges in project management. One of the critical success factors for organizations in project implementation is the leadership of project managers. Therefore, the role of project managers in project-based organizations is considered significant, requiring unique skills and competencies. This study aims to examine the impact of project manager leadership competencies on project-based organizational performance in Indonesia, with project complexity as a moderator variable.
The research employed a questionnaire as the research instrument, adapted from previous studies, to assess project manager leadership competencies, project complexity, and project performance. The research instrument was then distributed to project managers, equivalent positions, or those above in various project-based organizations in Indonesia using purposive sampling method. A total of 64 data collected from respondents were analyzed using the multivariate statistical methods, specifically Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to test the research hypotheses.
The analysis results indicate that project manager leadership competencies and project complexity positively affect the performance of project-based organizations in Indonesia. However, project complexity does not moderate the positive relationship between project manager leadership competencies and project performance. This study also conducted an in-depth analysis to test the same hypotheses for three different industry types: consulting industry, infrastructure construction industry, and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) industry, yielding different results. The study also analyzed the level of project success based on the triple constraint method. From the classification results based on project success categories, it was found that 59% of projects were classified as successful projects, with no delays or over budget, while 6% of projects fell into the category of unsuccessful projects, experiencing delays and over budget.
