Does Group Identification with K-Pop Fandom Lead to Lower Level of Stress by Reducing Loneliness?

Dalam
studi sebelumnya ditemukan bahwa identifikasi terhadap kelompok memiliki efek
positif terhadap kesejahteraan individu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah
untuk mengetahui peran identifikasi kelompok terhadap stres melalui mediasi kesepian pada fandom K-Pop. Dihipotesiskan bahwa identifikasi kelompok akan menyebabkan
tingkat stres yang lebih rendah dengan mediasi berkurangnya kesepian. Semua
partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah wanita yang mengindentifkasi diri mereka
sebegai anggota fandom K-Pop dengan
rentang usia 20-30 tahun (N= 214). Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui survei daring.
Tiga skala yang digunakan untuk mengukur tiga variabel tersebut adalah subskala
stres dari DASS-21 untuk menilai
stres, skala identifikasi kelompok untuk menilai identifikasi kelompok, dan
skala UCLA loneliness untuk menilai
kesepian. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa kesepian relasional sepenuhnya
memediasi hubungan antara identifikasi kelompok-belonging dengan stres.
Keterbatasan dan implikasi penelitian dibahas.
Prior
studies found that establishing group identification has a positive effect on
one’s well-being. The purpose of the study is to examine the role of group
identification to K-Pop fandom on reduced stress, through the mediation of
loneliness. It was hypothesized that group identification would lead to lower levels of stress
by the mediation of reduced loneliness. Participants of this study were females
who identified themselves as a member of the K-Pop fandom with ages ranging
from 20-30 years old (N= 214). Data
collection was conducted through an online survey. Three scales were used,
namely the stress subscale of DASS-21 to
assess stress, the group identification scale to assess group
identification, and the UCLA loneliness scale to
assess loneliness. Data analysis showed
that relational loneliness fully mediated the relationship between group
identification-belonging and stress. Limitations and
implications of the study are discussed.
