Yogyakarta is one of the cities that has a high population growth and land use needs. This causes less and less vacant land in Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, the demand for housing for productive-age people who need a place to live is also quite high. However, due to the narrowing land area, the price of land in urban areas to be expensive. Youth people in Yogyakarta are threatened with homelessness due to high land prices. Therefore, a shared residential building will solve the problem of needing a place to live. Shared housing is built so that it can accommodate many people. Because land is limited, the building is made vertical housing.
The architectural design problem in ordinary single house is the need for a large area of land to accommodate all function spaces in the house. With vertical housing, it will be integrated so that various functions of the room can be allocated in a small space. For example, with a multifunctional room. Although the room is small, but residents will still feel comfortable with an compact design.
Vertical housing will be combined with a recreation space and a creative space. This creative space can be filled by creative communities in Yogyakarta. This vertical housing is aimed at the millennial generation who have special preferences in choosing a place to live. This generation has many activities so this creative area is suitable as a place to unwind.
Youth people when get tired or stressed will usually go to visit nature, such as to mountains, beaches and waterfalls. So the concept close to nature is suitable for this building. When youth people have a lot of activities and then feel tired and need refreshing, there is a natural atmosphere in the building where they live that makes it cool and can feel nature without having to travel far.
