Pengaruh Umur Terhadap Waktu Estrus Post Partum pada Sapi Potong di Kecamatan Girimulyo

            Estrus Post Partum (EPP) merupakan salah satu indikator performa reproduksi pada sapi yang perlu diperhatikan dalam manajemen reproduksi pada peternakan sapi. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada sapi ternak di Kecamatan Girimulyo, Kabupaten Kulon Progo untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor umur pada waktu EPP. Sampel yang digunakan adalah sapi Peranakan Ongole (PO), Limousine Peranakan Ongole (LimPO), dan Simmental Peranakan Ongole (SimPO) dengan jumlah sapi yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian sebanyak 104 ekor. Data diambil dengan prosedur wawancara terhadap pemilik dan/atau pengurus sapi ternak, pertanyaan diajukan untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai nama pemilik, alamat, ras sapi, umur sapi, dan EPP. Data diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan program Microsoft Excel dan SPSS dengan pengujian One-Way Anova untuk menentukan signifikansi antara 3 rentang umur sapi, yaitu rentang umur 3 - 4,9 tahun, 5 - 6,9, dan 7 tahun keatas. Hasil analisis statistika menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikan (P>0,05) antara umur dengan waktu EPP, dan tidak terlihat perbedaan waktu EPP yang besar pada sapi yang berumur 3 hingga 7 tahun.

Post Partum Estrus (EPP) is one of cow’s reproductive performance indicators which is important to consider in cattle reproduction management. This study was conducted on cows in Girimulyo Subdistrict, Kulon Progo Regency to determine the effects of age on EPP period. The sample for the study consisted of 104 cows which includes Ongole Crossbreed (PO), Limousine-Ongole Crossbreed (LimPO), and Simmental-Ongole Crossbreed (SimPO) cattle breeds that met the research criteria. Data was collected through interview means with the owner and/or the manager of the cattle, the questions were asked to gather informations about the cow owner’s name, address, breed of cow, age of cow, and EPP. The data then processed and analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS program with One-Way Anova testing to determine the significance among three age groups of cow, which are 3 - 4.9 years, 5 - 6.9 years, and 7 years and above. The statistics analysis results shows that there are no significant effect (P>0,05) of age on the EPP period, and major changes of the EPP period unseen on cows at age 3 to 7 years old.
