Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penyebab berlanjutnya ketimpangan representasi politik pemuda Thailand dalam isu-isu demokratisasi pasca-Pemilu 2019. Studi ini didorong oleh fenomena global kontemporer di mana tuntutan gerakan pemuda di berbagai belahan dunia untuk mewujudkan demokratisasi gagal diartikulasikan kembali dalam institusi representasi, sementara kelompok lainnya menikmati kekuasaan dan pengaruh yang tidak proporsional, mengakibatkan ketimpangan representasi politik. Studi ini berfokus pada kasus gerakan pemuda Thailand yang tuntutan-tuntutannya dalam isu demokratisasi pasca-Pemilu 2019 gagal diartikulasikan kembali oleh representatif terpilih di parlemen, sementara kelompok lain yang diidentifikasi sebagai jaringan autokrasi pro-monarki mempertahankan kekuasaan dan pengaruh dominan dalam berbagai sektor di Thailand. Temuan mengungkap hubungan berjalinan antara depolitisasi isu publik dan fragmentasi gerakan rakyat, menggambarkan demokrasi yang terdepolitisasi yang melanggengkan ketimpangan representasi politik. Penelitian ini berfungsi sebagai kritik terhadap studi demokrasi Thailand yang sangat berkembang, tetapi belum secara komprehensif membahas permasalahan representasi politik serta berkontribusi terhadap studi pemuda dengan memberikan perhatian pada tantangan-tantangan yang dihadapi oleh gerakan-gerakan pemuda dalam mencapai partisipasi dan representasi bermakna dalam lingkup politik.

This undergraduate thesis research aims to analyze the underlying causes of the persistent unequal political representation of Thai youth in the democratization issues following the 2019 general election. The study is driven by the contemporary global phenomenon where the demands of youth movements worldwide to achieve democratization fail to be rearticulated within representative institutions, while other groups enjoy disproportionate power and influence, resulting in unequal political representation. The study focuses on the case of the Thai youth movement, whose demands for democratization subsequent to the 2019 elections were not effectively rearticulated by elected representatives in parliament, while another group identified as a pro-monarchy autocratic network maintains dominant power and influence across various sectors in Thailand. The findings reveal an intertwined relationship between the depoliticization of public issues and the fragmentation of the people's movement, illustrating a depoliticized democracy that perpetuates unequal political representation. This research serves as a critique of the highly developed studies on Thai democracy, which have yet to comprehensively address the issues of political representation and contribute to the study of youth by shedding light on the challenges faced by youth movements in achieving meaningful participation and representation in the political sphere.
