OPTIMASI FORMULASI KRIM TABIR SURYA EKSTRAK KULIT BUAH NAGA MERAH (HYLOCEREUS POLYRHIZUS) TERENKAPSULASI NANOPARTIKEL KITOSAN: UJI AKTIVITAS SECARA IN VITRO

Hylocereus polyrhizus peel contains many polyphenol compounds and potential source of antioxidants as a sunscreen. Nanoparticle technology in sunscreen preparations has the advantage of increasing activation, surface area, and better diffusivity in protecting the skin. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of speed and stirring time of Chitosan Hylocereus polyrhizus peel ethanol extract (CHPPEE) in producing nanoparticle size, and to obtain the best CHPPEE nanoparticle sunscreen cream formulation.
Nanoparticles were prepared by varying speed and stirring time with a magnetic stirrer (F1 500 rpm, 1 hour; F2 1500 rpm, 1 hour; F3 500 rpm, 2 hours; and F4 1500 rpm, 2 hours). Cream formulations were made with varying levels of active ingredients (FA without active ingredients, FB with 6% HPPEE, F1, F2, and F3 with 2%, 4%, and 6% CHPPEE, respectively). The nanoparticles formed were determined for encapsulation efficiency, loading capacity, and observed with PSA. The cream formed was observed for organoleptic, cream type, homogeneity, and measured for pH value, spreadability, adhesiveness, viscosity, and sunscreen activity using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The data obtained were analyzed using factorial design optimization, ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation.
The optimal method of making CHPPEE nanoparticles was at a 1500 rpm stirring speed for 1 hour producing nanoparticles, with a particle size of 205.471 nm; PdI 0.369; EE 39.388%; and LC 46.383%. All sunscreen cream formulas with CHPPEE nanoparticle active ingredients meet SNI 16-4399-1996 standards. F3 sunscreen cream formula (CHPPEE 6%) has the best characterization with SPF value of 17.41, ultra protection category.
