The Effect of Smartphone Addiction on Parent-Adolescent Relationship in Indonesia

Peningkatan pesat teknologi telah merevolusi cara kita berkomunikasi dan berinteraksi dengan dunia. Meluasnya penggunaan smartphone telah menjadi salah satu kemajuan teknologi paling menonjol di zaman kita, yang menyebabkan lonjakan adiksi smartphone di kalangan remaja. Adiksi smartphone telah menjadi perhatian besar karena berpotensi mempengaruhi hubungan seseorang, terutama dinamika dalam ikatan keluarga. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat apakah adiksi smartphone mempengaruhi hubungan Orangtua-Remaja di kalangan remaja Indonesia. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah 164 remaja Indonesia berusia 18 hingga 24 tahun yang merupakan pengguna aktif smartphone. Metode analisis data menggunakan teknik Korelasi Pearson dan Regresi Linier. Hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) adalah 0,000 <0>smartphone mempengaruhi kualitas hubungan Orang Tua-Remaja, dengan nilai R Square 0.110 menunjukkan bahwa 11?ri kualitas hubungan Orang Tua-Remaja dipengaruhi oleh adiksi smartphone. Implikasi dari penelitian ini dibahas.

The rapid enhancement of technologies has revolutionized the way we communicate and interact with the world. The widespread use of smartphones has been one of the most prominent technological advancements of our time, leading to a considerable surge in smartphone addiction among adolescents. Smartphone addiction has been a great concern since it has the potential to influence one relationship, particularly the dynamic in family bonds. The purpose of this study is to look into whether or not Smartphone Addiction (SA) affects Parent-Adolescent relationship (PAR) among Indonesian adolescents. The participants were 164 Indonesian adolescents aged 18 to 24 who were active smartphone users. The data analysis method used Pearson Correlation and Linear Regression techniques. The result of the study acquired the value of Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 <0.01 indicating that Smartphone Addiction (SA) impacts Parent-adolescents relationship (PAR), with the R Square value of .110 inferring that 11% of Parents-Adolescents Relationship quality is influenced by Smartphone Addiction (SA). The implications of the study are discussed.
