Analisis Semiotika Konsep Fungsionalisme Struktural dalam Film Dheepan (2015) Karya Jacques Audiard

Konflik antara pemerintahan Sri Lanka dengan Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam menjadi salah satu catatan konflik terlama dalam sejarah. Konflik ini memicu banyak masyarakat Tamil berusaha keluar dari negaranya. Mereka harus menjalani kehidupan baru dan melupakan memori buruk yang mereka alami. Hal ini menjadi sorotan dalam film Dheepan yang mengisahkan tentang sebuah keluarga �palsu� yang kabur dari Sri Lanka. Selain itu, film ini menjelaskan usaha mereka dalam membentuk sebuah struktur yang ideal dalam masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap proses adaptasi, pencapaian tujuan, integrasi, serta latensi dari para tokoh. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori fungsionalisme struktural yang dicetuskan oleh Talcott Parsons dan teori semiotika dari Roland Barthes. Teori fungsionalisme struktural digunakan untuk mengkaji tindakan-tindakan yang dihipotesiskan sebagai data. Data tersebut lalu dianalisis secara denotasi dan konotasi sesuai dengan teori semiotika. Melalui hasil penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa pada film Dheepan proses yang membentuk sebuah fungsionalisme struktural saling berkaitan. Setiap fungsinya dapat berubah menjadi fungsi lainnya. Selain itu, terdapat fungsi yang berjalan bersamaan dengan fungsi lainnya. Dalam penelitian ini juga ditemukan bahwa individu dengan memori yang lebih sedikit mampu beradaptasi lebih baik dari individu dengan memori hidup lebih lama. Dalam penelitian pula, ditemukan bahwa meskipun posisi suatu individu dengan individu lain setara, tetapi memiliki tujuan yang berbeda maka fungsi suatu kelompok sosial tidak akan berjalan dengan baik.

There was a conflict between the Sri Lanka government and the Liberation Tiger of Tamil Eelam. It was one of the longest-recorded conflicts in history. The conflict caused many Tamil's citizens to leave from their hometowns. They faced some things such as having to live a new life and forgetting their bad memories. So, in this era, there is a movie inspired by that conflict. The movie's title is Dheepan which tells the story of a 'fake' family who migrated to another place from Sri Lanka. Furthermore, this movie also explains how they make an effort to build an ideal social structure. This study aims to reveal the process of adaptation, goal attainment, integration, and pattern maintenance of each character. This study implies the structure functionalism theory proposed by Talcott Parsons and the semiotic theory proposed by Roland Barthes. The structural functionalism theory is used to examine the data that have been hypothesized. Moreover, the data are analyzed by using the semiotic theory with denotative and connotative meaning. From the research result, Dheepan movie shows that the processes for building functionalisme structural in society are related to each other. Each function would be changed into another function. Beyond that, there is a function of social structure that provides continuity along with the other functions. Not only that, the movie also conveys that individuals who have less memory are able to adapt better than individuals who have long-living memory. Concluding from the previous statement that every human being has an equal position in their societies, even though they have several differences in their goal lives.
