SINTESIS KOMPOSIT KITOSA/ZEOLIT ALAM TERAKTIVASI SEBAGAI ADSORBEN BIRU METILEN

Modifikasi zeolit alam teraktivasi dengan kitosan sebagai adsorben biru metilen telah dipelajari.Komposit kitosan/zeolit alam teraktivasi (Kit/ZAA) diperoleh melalui aktivasi zeolit alam kemudian dilakukan sintesis kitosan/zeolit alam teraktivasi.Karakterisasi kitosan/zeolit alam teraktivasi dilakukan dengan spektrofotometer FTIR, X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope � Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX) dan penentuan kapasitas tukar kation.Kajian adsorpsi zat warna biru metilen dipelajari pada variasi pH, variasi waktu kontak, variasi konsentrasi, dan variasi adsorben.Konsentrasi biru metilen diukur dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis pada panjang gelombang 663 nm.Karakterisasi dengan spektrofotometer FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDX, dan penentuan kapasitas tukar kation menunjukkan bahwa modifikasi zeolit alam aktivasi dengan kitosan berhasil dilakukan.Keadaan optimum adsorpsi biru metilen oleh kitosan/zeolit diperoleh pada pH 12 dan waktu kontak 120 menit.Studi kinetika menunjukkan bahwa proses adsorpsi mengikuti model kinetika orde dua Langmuir-Hinshelwood dengan konstanta laju adsorpsi 12,25 g mg-1 menit-1.Studi isoterm menunjukkan proses adsorpsi mengikuti isoterm Langmuir dengan kapasitas adsorpsi sebesar 38,38 mg g-1.

Modification of activated natural zeolite with chitosan as methylene blue adsorbent has been studied.The chitosan/zeolite composite (Kit/ZAA) was obtained by activating natural zeolite and then synthesizing chitosan with activated natural zeolite.Chitosan/activated natural zeolite characterization was carried out using FTIR spectrophotometer, X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope � Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX) and determination of cation exchange capacity.The adsorption study of methylene blue was studied by variation of pH, contact time, concentration, and adsorbent variation.Methylene blue concentration was measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at wave length of 663 nm.Characterization using XRD, FTIR spectrophotometer, SEM-EDX, and determination of cation exchange capacity showed that modification of activated natural zeolite with chitosan was successful.The optimum condition for methylene blue adsorption by chitosan/activated natural zeolite was obtained at pH 12 and contact time of 120 min.Kinetic studies show that the adsorption process follows the second order Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model wit adsorption rate constant of 12.25 g mg-1 min�1.Isothermal studies show that the adsorption process follows the Langmuir isotherm with an adsorption capacity of 38.38 mg g-1.
