This research was conducted in Januari 1999 at Kalimati village, an interface area, wiht in Sumur kondang Forest Resort, Walled Forest Range, Kuningan Forest District, West Java. The objective of the research is : to detennine the problems related with the villagers income and poverty and to identify the role of forestry to support the prosperity of the villagers. Descriptive method is used as a basic method. Fifty percent of the pesanggem (forest farmer) are chosen randomly as sample respondens. Then the data ware analyzed using qualitative analysis (Planning process and forest management practices) and quantitative analysis (forest farmer income, emplyment opportunuty, poverty and income distribution). The result shows that forest management using management regimes system has its role to reduce the unbalance of income distribution and improve the prosperity of the forest villagers, however the field managers and consultative system should be chosen selectively.
