Peran Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) dan School Burnout Terhadap Academic Performance Mahasiswa

Sebagai mahasiswa yang tidak dapat terlepas dari internet dan smartphone, mereka memiliki risiko yang tinggi untuk terkena dampak negatif dari smartphone terutama terhadap academic performance mereka. Penelitian ini dilakukan guna mengetahui peran Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) dan school burnout terhadap academic performance pada mahasiswa. Hipotesis penelitian ini adalah adanya peran FoMO dan school burnout terhadap academic performance mahasiswa. Partisipan dari penelitian ini adalah 261 mahasiswa dari beberapa universitas berbeda di Indonesia angkatan dengan rentang usia 18-25 tahun. Terdapat tiga skala yang digunakan, yaitu Fear of Missing Out Scale, School Burnout Inventory (SBI) dan Academic Performance Rating Scale (APSR). Hasil analisis regresi linear berganda menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan FoMO dan school burnout memiliki peran yang signifikan sebesar 22,9%, dengan sumbangan efektif 6,6%% dari FoMO serta 16,3% dari school burnout.

As students who cannot be separated from the internet and smartphones, it puts them at high risk of being negatively impacted by smartphones, especially on their academic performance. This study aims to examine the role of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and school burnout towards academic performance among students. The hypothesis of this study is there is a role of FoMO and school burnout on student academic performance. The participants were 261 students from different universities in Indonesia aged 18 - 25 years old. The study was conducted using Fear of Missing Out Scale, School Burnout Inventory (SBI) and Academic Performance Rating Scale (APRS). The result of multiple linear regression analysis showed that simultaneously FoMO and school burnout had a significant role of 22,9% with FoMO contributing 6,6% and school burnout 16,3%.
