The Relationship of Twitter Usage on Positive and Negative Affects and Life Satisfaction of Students Following @Collegemenfess During Covid-19 Pandemic

Untuk mencegah penyebaran Covid-19 di Indonesia, semua metode kegiatan yang bersifat luring berganti menjadi daring. Hal ini menyebabkan masyarakat perlu melakukan adaptasi pada sistem yang ada. Untuk menjaga interaksi antar masyarakat, utamanya pada mahasiswa yang eksis di kehidupannya, utamanya kehidupan sosial media, maka perlu dilakukan suatu adaptasi. Melalui sosial media, individu dapat merasakan adanya dukungan dan perhatian oleh orang lain sehingga dapat merasa lebih bahagia. Kebahagiaan dalam aspek kesehatan mental termasuk dalam subjective well-being. Dalam pengukurannya, subjective well-being memiliki 2 aspek, yaitu: afek positive dan negatif dan kepuasaan hidup. Oleh karena itu, Penulis melakukan identifikasi terhadap hubungan penggunaan media sosial (utamanya penggunaan Twitter) pada afek positive dan negatif dan kepuasaan hidup mahasiswa selama pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif-analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Penelitian ini menggunakan google form dalam pengambilan datanya kepada pengikut @collegemenfess, dengan menggunakan instrumen SWLS, SPANE, dan SONTUS secara Quota Sampling pada July-Aug 2022. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 463 responden. Melalui penelitian ini, didapatkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang rendah antara penggunaan Twitter dan afek positive dan negatif, serta tidak ada hubungan penggunaan Twitter terhadap kepuasan hidup mahasiswa pengikut @collegemenfess selama pandemi Covid-19. Meskipun tidak berhubungan, penelitian ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan memperkaya referensi terkait kesehatan mental di Indonesia mengingat kesehatan mental belum menjadi fokus kesehatan utama di pembangunan kesehatan Indonesia.
WHO declared a global Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020. To prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia, all activities are shifted from offline methods to online methods. This change causes related parties to need to adapt to the new system, which has challenges in its implementation. To balance change, needed interaction between humans in their lives, which allows students to aware that they are unique individuals and can be someone who exists in social life. One of the ways to achieve this identity fulfillment is to have a social media account. Through social media, individuals perceive that they can explain themselves more, get support, pay attention, and be noticed by others, so that make themselves feel happier in undergo live, or in aspect mental health is called fulfillment subjective well-being. In measurement, subjective well-being has 2 aspects: Positive and Negative Affects and life satisfaction. Based on that background, Author want to identify the relationship of Twitter usage on Positive and Negative Affects and life satisfaction of students during Covid-19 pandemic. This research was an analytical quantitative research with a cross-sectional research. This research was carried out by a google form with followers of the @collegemenfess account according to the SWLS, SPANE, and SONTUS guidelines by Quota Sampling on July-Aug 2022. The sample in this study was 463 samples. According to this research, there is low relationship of Twitter usage on Positive and Negative Affects and no significant relationship of Twitter usage on life satisfaction in students following @collegemenfess during Covid-19 pandemic. Eventhough the result is not suitable, this research hopefully can increase knowledge and enrich references regarding mental health in Indonesia considering mental health is not the main focus of Indonesia's health development.
