Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mensintesis adsorben selulosa-asam aspartat tertaut silang epiklorohidrin (Sel-Epi-Asp), menentukan pH optimum, isoterm, dan kinetika adsorpsi metilen biru menggunakan adsorben Sel-Epi-Asp. Selulosa diisolasi dari mahkota nanas. Sintesis adsorben Sel-Epi-Asp dilakukan dengan mencampurkan selulosa, asam aspartat dan epiklorohidrin pada kondisi basa. Adsorben Sel-Epi-Asp hasil sintesis dilakukan karakterisasi menggunakan FTIR dan SEM-EDX. Kajian adsorpsi metilen biru pada Sel-Epi-Asp dilakukan dengan variasi pH, konsentrasi awal larutan metilen biru, dan waktu kontak. Hasil karakterisasi FTIR menunjukkan bahwa asam aspartat berhasil ditaut silang pada selulosa. Hasil SEM-EDX menunjukkan adsorben Sel-Epi-Asp mengandung unsur C, O, N, dan Cl. Penelitian menunjukkan adsorpsi optimum metilen biru terjadi pada pH 7, konsentrasi awal metilen biru 175 mg L-1, dan waktu kontak 180 menit. Isoterm dan kinetika adsorpsi mengikuti model isoterm Langmuir dengan kapasitas maksimum 21,45 mg g-1 dan kinetika orde satu semu dengan nilai konstanta laju reaksi 9,6 x 10-3 menit-1
Research on the synthesis of cellulose-aspartic acid crosslinked by epichlorohydrin for methylene blue adsorption has been done. The aims of this research are to synthesize cellulose-aspartic acid crosslinked by epichlorohydrin, the optimum pH, isotherm, and kinetic adsorption of methylene blue with adsorbent Sel-Epi-Asp. Cellulose was isolated from pineapple crown. Sel-Epi-Asp adsorbent synthesis was carried out by mixing cellulose isolated from pineapple crown, aspartic acid, and epichlorohydrin under alkaline conditions. The synthesized adsorbent was characterized using FTIR and SEM-EDX. The study of methylene blue adsorption by Sel-Epi-Asp was carried out variations in pH, the concentration of methylene blue solution, and contact time. The results of FTIR characterization showed that aspartic acid was successfully cross-linked to cellulose. The SEM-EDX results show that the Sel-Epi-Asp adsorbent contains C, O, N, and Cl elements. The study shows that the optimum adsorption of methylene blue occurred at pH 7, methylene blue concentration of 175 mg L-1, and a contact time of 180 minutes. The isotherm and adsorption kinetics follow the Langmuir isotherm with capacity maximum of 21.45 mg g-1 and pseudo-first-order kinetics with a rate constant of 9.6 x 10-3 menit-1
