Pengaruh Penambahan Minyak Atsiri Cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum) Konsentrasi 5% terhadap Kekasaran Permukaan Tissue Conditioner

Pemakaian tissue conditioner di dalam rongga mulut akan membuat tissue conditioner menyerap air dan saliva sehingga dapat meningkatkan porositas dan menyebabkan peningkatan kekasaran permukaan tissue conditioner. Kekasaran permukaan yang meningkat dapat meningkatkan perlekatan Candida albicans dan menyebabkan stomatitis. Penambahan minyak atsiri cengkeh 5% pada tissue conditioner mempengaruhi kekasaran permukaan tissue conditioner. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji pengaruh penambahan minyak atsiri cengkeh 5% terhadap kekasaran permukaan tissue conditioner. Sejumlah 24 sampel tissue conditioner berbentuk cakram dengan diameter 25 mm dan tinggi 5 mm dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok. Terdapat 2 kelompok kontrol tissue conditioner tanpa penambahan minyak atsiri cengkeh 5% dengan 1 hari perendaman dan 7 hari perendaman serta 2 kelompok perlakuan tissue conditioner dengan penambahan minyak atsiri cengkeh 5% dengan 1 hari perendaman dan 7 hari perendaman. Sampel direndam di dalam akuades dan diinkubasi dengan suhu 37oC. Kekasaran permukaan sampel diukur menggunakan profilometer (Starret SR300 Surface Roughness Tester, USA). Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji anava dua jalur. Hasil penelitian pada kelompok perlakuan 1 hari perendaman menunjukkan nilai kekasaran permukaan sebesar 1,26 µm sedangkan pada 7 hari perendaman didapatkan nilai sebesar 1,56 µm. Kemudian pada kelompok kontrol 1 hari perendaman menunjukkan nilai kekasaran permukaan sebesar 1,85 µm sedangkan pada 7 hari perendaman didapatkan nilai sebesar 2,11 µm. Hasil uji anava dua jalur menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan signifikan nilai kekasaran permukaan tissue conditioner antar kelompok (p<0,05). Hasil uji Post-hoc LSD menunjukkan perbedaan yang bermakna antar kelompok. Kesimpulan penelitian ini penambahan minyak atsiri cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum) 5% menurunkan kekasaran permukaan tissue conditioner.

The use of tissue conditioner in the oral cavity can make the tissue conditioner absorb water and saliva so the porosity will increase and cause the increase of tissue conditioner surface roughness. The increase of the tissue conditioner surface roughness can increase the attachment of Candida albicans and cause stomatitis. The addition of 5% clove essential oil can affects the surface roughness of the tissue conditioner. This study aimed to determine the effect of the addition of 5% clove essential oil to the surface roughness of the tissue conditioner. This study used 24 samples of disk-shaped tissue conditioner with a diameter of 25 mm and a height of 5 mm that were divided into 4 groups. There were 2 control groups of the tissue conditioner without the addition of 5% clove essential oil with 1 day and 7 days of immersion, also 2 treatment groups of the tissue conditioner with the addition of 5% clove essential oil with 1 day and 7 days of immersion. The samples were immersed in distilled water and were incubated at a temperature of 37oC. The surface roughness of the sample was measured using a profilometer (Starret SR300 Surface Roughness Tester, USA). The data were analyzed with Two-way ANOVA test. The result of this study showed that the value of the surface roughness of the treatment group with 1 day of immersion sample was 1.26 µm, meanwhile for the group with 7 days immersion was 1.56 µm. The the value of the surface roughness of the control group with 1 day of immersion sample was 1.85 µm, meanwhile for the group with 7 days immersion was 2.11 µm. The two-way ANOVA test showed that there was a significant difference (p<0.05) in the value of the surface roughness of the tissue conditioner between the groups. The post-hoc LSD test showed that there was significant difference between study groups. The conclusion of this study is the addition of 5% clove essential oil (Syzygium aromaticum) has an effect in reducing the surface roughness of the tissue conditioner.
