Proses adaptif untuk penghapus gema

Gema menyebabkan masalah yang cukup serius dalam sistem telekomunikasi saat ini, akibat jalur transmisi yang begitu panjang yang mengakibatkan gangguan berupa pengulangan sinyal. Metode konvensional tidak mampu mengatasi masalah ini karena ketidaktentuan dalam amplitude, tunda waktu, dan jumlahnya. Metode adaptif memiliki unjukkerja yang memadai untuk berbagai variasi atas karakter gema itu. Penelitian ini mengambil kasus permasalahan nyata, penyelesaiannya disimulasikan dengan perekaman data auditorium bergema sebagai pengganti sistem telekomunikasi, guna memperoleh pemahaman adaptif dan hasilnya secara intuitif.

Echoes create serious problems in modern telecommunication systems, where very long transmission paths cause disturbing repeated signals. Conventional methods could not solve this problem due to the uncertainties in the amplitudes, the delay times as well as the number of echoes. Adaptive methods have performed well in a wide varieties of echo characteristics. In this research, the problems and the associated solutions were simulated with real data recorded in an echoic auditorium using an ordinary microphone, to gain some intuitive understanding on the nature of the percepted results.
