KINERJA INDUK SAPI BRAHMAN CROSS PADA LAHAN REKLAMASI BEKAS TAMBANG BATU BARA DI LATI CATTLE PROJECT PT BERAU COAL, KALIMANTAN TIMUR

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kinerja induk sapi Brahman Cross (BX) pada lahan reklamasi bekas tambang batu bara di Lati Cattle, Project PT Berau Coal, Kalimantan Timur. Materi yang digunakan adalah sapi BX sebanyak 15 ekor. Data diperoleh dengan metode survei melalui wawancara dan pengamatan langsung di lapangan. Data yang diamati meliputi sistem pemeliharaan dan kinerja induk. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa service per conception (S/C), lama bunting, bobot lahir, bobot sapih, post partum mating (PPM), interval kelahiran, indeks reproduksi induk (IRI), dan indeks produktivitas induk (IPI) sapi BX berturut-turut adalah 2,93±0,80 kali, 283,47±5,19 hari, 23,56±1,04 kg, 69,00±4,66 kg, 196,60±52,15 hari, 520,67±58,67 hari, 0,71±0,08 ekor/tahun dan 49,05±7,27 kg/ekor/tahun. Disimpulkan bahwa kinerja induk sapi BX di Lati Cattle Project PT Berau Coal sudah cukup baik dan masih bisa ditingkatkan melalui perbaikan manajemen pemberian pakan dan perkawinan segera saat estrus pertama (PPE).

This study was aimed to observe the performances of Brahman cross (BX) cows reared in a coal post-mining land reclamation in Lati Cattle Project, PT Berau Coal, East Kalimantan. Fifteen heads of BX cows were used in this study. Data was collected by survey method through interviews and direct observations. The observed data included the management system and cow�s performances. Data was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that service per conception (S/C), gestation period, birth weight, weaning weight, post-partum mating (PPM), calving interval, reproductivity index and productivity index of BX cows were 2,93±0,80 times, 283,47±5, 19 days, 23,56±1,04 kg, 69,00±4,66 kg, 196,60±52,15 days, 520,67±58,67 days, 0,71±0,08 head/year and 49,05±7,27 kg/head/year, respectively. It is concluded that the performances of BX cows in Lati Cattle Project PT Berau Coal was good and can be enhanced by improving the management of feed and hastening mating when post partum estrus happens.
