Analisis Bourdieusian Terhadap Perubahan Kebijakan Etnik di Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region

Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) adalah salah satu pusat konflik etnik di Tiongkok. Semenjak masa awal kemerdekaan Tiongkok, Uyghur yang merupakan kelompok etnik lokal di XUAR dan Han yang merupakan mayoritas kelompok etnik di Tiongkok terlibat dalam konflik di XUAR. Selama jangka waktu yang lama, Tiongkok tidak memiliki jawaban yang tepat untuk nationalities question ini. Di tahun 2017, Pemerintah Tiongkok memutuskan untuk mengubah strategi kebijakan etnik di XUAR dan sebagai akibatnya, mulai mendapat perhatian dari komunitas internasional karena permasalahan etik dan moral dibalik implementasi kebijakan etnik yang baru. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk meneliti proses bagaimana strategi kebijakan etnik tersebut berubah dengan menggunakan praksiologi milik Pierre Bourdieu yang telah diadaptasikan untuk studi Hubungan Internasional sehingga mampu menangkap relasi kuasa di antara aktor-aktor.

Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) was a hotbed for China's ethnic conflict between the overwhelming Uyghur, who are native to the region, and Han people, who are the ethnic majority of China. For the longest time, China did not seem to have the answer for this 'nationalities question' as the region continued to be marred with violence between Uyghur and Han. In 2017, China decided to take a new approach in their ethnic policy by detaining Uyghur people and putting them in the so called 'reeducation camp'. This new approach is currently under scrutiny due to the questionable ethic and moral behind it. This thesis attempts to further understand the decision making process of China's ethnic policy using Pierre Bourdieu's praxeology that has been adapted for International Relations study by analyzing the power relations between the actors of China's ethnic policy.
