OPTIMIZATION AND FORMULATION OF BENTONITE-BASED SOLID SOAP USING SIMPLEX LATTICE DESIGN

Inovasi mengintegrasikan bentonit pada sabun padat belum banyak dilakukan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasikan sabun padat bentonit menggunakan kombinasi minyak jarak dan VCO. Limia formula sabun padat dirancang, dimana konsentrasi minyak jarak dan VCO divariasikan pada masing-masing formula. Penilaian terhadap sabun padat dinilai berdasarkan parameter yang tertera dalam SNI 3532:2021. Kombinasi minyak jarak dan VCO pada sabun padat bentonit mengakibatkan pengurangan nilai pada semua parameter sabun kecuali stabilitas busa dan kandungan lemak total. Meskipun demikian, interaksi antara kedua minyak tersebut dapat meningkatkan nilai kadar air pada sabun. Analisis menggunakan SLD menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi minyak jarak 59,4668% dan VCO 50,5332% merupakan formula optimum untuk sabun padat yang mengandung bentonit sebesar 3 gram. Analisis one sample t-test menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada parameter daya busa, stabilitas busa, bahan tak larut etanol, dan lemak tidak tersabunkan antara formula optimum yang diprediksi oleh SLD dan hasil verifikasi.
As the daily consumption of soap has dramatically increased due to the emerging Covid-19 pandemic, people have become more aware of hygiene. Innovation of integrating bentonite in solid soap has not commonly been done yet. Therefore, this research was intended to formulate bentonite solid soap using a combination of castor oil and VCO. Five formulas of solid soap were designed, each of which varied in the concentration of castor oil and VCO. The soap profile assessment was based on the SNI 3532:2021 quality parameters. The combination of castor oil and VCO in bentonite solid soap influenced the reduction in all the soap’s properties except for foam stability and total fatty matter, which enhancement was observed. Nevertheless, the interaction between both oils could increase soap's water content response. Analyzing with SLD showed that the yielded concentration of 59.4668% castor oil and 50.5332% VCO was the optimum formula for solid soap composed of 3 grams of bentonite. One sample t-test showed no significant difference in soap's response of foaming ability, foam stability, ethanol insoluble matter, and unsaponifiable fat between the optimum formula predicted by SLD and the verification result.
